MILAN, Italy -- AC Milan dismissed manager Clarence Seedorf on Monday and replaced him with another club great, Filippo Inzaghi. In a brief statement, Milan said it has handed youth-team coach Inzaghi a two-year contract until June 30, 2016. "I am very happy, today for me is an unforgettable day," Inzaghi said. "I thank President (Silvio) Berlusconi and the whole club for their trust and the prestigious opportunity that has been given to me. "I will give my all for these colours, with dedication, passion and determination, as I have always done whether as a player or as coach of the youth teams." Seedorf, who was only four months into a 2 1/2 year contract, replaced the fired Massimiliano Allegri in January. The former Dutch star led Milan to an eighth-place finish in Serie A, with 11 wins in his 19 league matches in charge. Despite an impressive first leg performance against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last 16, Milan went out to the eventual runners-up 5-1 on aggregate. The 40-year-old Inzaghi has long been touted as a future coach of Milan. Like his former teammate Seedorf, Inzaghi has no previous first-team managerial experience. But the Italian has been coaching in the youth sectors at Milan since retiring in 2012 and has achieved impressive results. Inzaghi had a glittering 11-year playing career at Milan, winning two Serie A titles -- to add to the one he won at Juventus -- and two Champions League trophies. "I am honoured and proud to be the coach of a team that has been my life for so many years, a team and a club with which I have shared unforgettable joy and emotions," Inzaghi added. The former striker also won the World Cup with Italy in 2006. Mark Giordano Flames Jersey. Vonn had another scary moment at Saturdays World Cup downhill in Val dIsere, ending up clutching her knee in pain after losing her balance and missing a gate. But she gave a reassuring answer shortly afterward, saying no new damage had been done to the surgically repaired knee, and that her plans for the Sochi Olympics were still intact. Brandon Bollig Jersey. "A long time, I had not hit a home run," the slugger said. Cabreras solo shot in the sixth inning was his 44th of the year, but his first since Aug. 26. It was perhaps the most encouraging highlight for Detroit in a 6-2 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night that kept the Tigers six games ahead of second-place Cleveland in the AL Central. Detroits magic number to eliminate the Indians is six. Ahead 3-2, the Tigers escaped a bases-loaded jam in the eighth while playing without closer Joaquin Benoit and left-handed reliever Drew Smyly. They were both given the night off. "We need everybody here on our ballclub," Cabrera said. "I think everybody here stepped up tonight and did their jobs. Its what we need to still win our games, what we need if we go to the playoffs." Anibal Sanchez struck out 10 in 6 1-3 innings, but the Mariners tied it at 2 against him in the seventh, forcing Detroits relievers into action. Al Alburquerque (3-3) got out of the seventh, and Phil Coke and Jose Alvarez made it through a dodgy eighth. Alvarez got two outs in the ninth, and Jose Veras finished. Yoervis Medina (4-6) took the loss. The Mariners have dropped eight of nine. Cabrera has been bothered by a number of injuries that have affected his legs and midsection, so his opposite-field solo shot was a welcome sight for the Comerica Park crowd. It gave Detroit a 2-1 lead, but pinch-hitter Kendrys Morales tied it with an RBI double in the seventh. Alex Avila led off the bottom of the seventh with his first triple of the year, and after Jose Iglesias was hit by a pitch, Avila was caught in a rundown between third and home on Jacksons grounder. Avila stayed in the rundown long enough to enable Iglesias to go all the way from first to third, and Torii Hunters sacrifice fly put the Tigers ahead 3-2. They werent safe yet, though. With Benoit and Smyyly unavailable, Coke walked two hitters, sandwiched around an error by Iglesias at shortstop.dddddddddddd Alvarez came on with the bases loaded and got Mike Zunino to hit into a double play that kept the Tigers ahead. "Obviously, I was trying for a groundball," Alvarez said. "That was a good AB for the hitter -- a couple good pitches foul. ... If we dont make the play in that situation, it costs us the game maybe, but we make it and we take the win." Zunino drew two walks but couldnt come through in what was probably the biggest at-bat of the game. "I was just trying to battle and get the ball to the outfield," he said. "Im sure I saw every pitch he had, and I was keeping myself alive, but I just didnt do what I needed to do. A groundball was the worst thing in the world right there, and they turned two on me." Omar Infante added an RBI single in the bottom of the inning, and Austin Jacksons two-run single made it 6-2. Sanchez allowed six hits and two walks in 6 1-3 innings. His American League-leading ERA is now at 2.51. He threw 125 pitches. "Im not tired, more frustrated that I got the lead twice today and I dont keep the score," Sanchez said. "But at the end we win. Thats the most important thing." Don Kellys fourth-inning homer put Detroit ahead 1-0, but Raul Ibanez tied it in the sixth with his 28th homer of the year. Seattle starter Brandon Maurer pitched five-plus innings, allowing two runs and five hits. He walked two and struck out six. "I thought Maurer was much better today than hes been," Mariners manager Eric Wedge said. "Hes struggled lately, and he was pitching at this time of year against that team, but he didnt let any of that get to him. He kept his emotions in check and did a very nice job." NOTES: Detroit manager Jim Leyland said DH Victor Martinez will catch Thursdays game. ... Detroit RHP Justin Verlander (13-11) faces Seattle RHP Hisashi Iwakuma (12-6) on Wednesday night. Wholesale Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Authentic Jerseys From China Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys ' ' '

Tempe, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim acquired left-handed pitcher Jose Alvarez from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for infielder Andrew Romine on Friday. Dominguez homered twice and had four RBIs, helping the Astros to defeat the Chicago White Sox 8-2. Dominguez hit his sixth and seventh homers of the season off White Sox lefty John Danks (3-4) in the third and fifth innings. The first was hit to deep left-centre on a full count that followed a double by Dexter Fowler. The second was hit to the left-field Crawford Boxes, also with Fowler on base, putting the Astros up 8-1. "Hes a guy that can turn around anybodys fastball," Astros manager Bo Porter said of Dominguez. "Hes got power to all fields." Backed by early run support, Astros right-hander Brad Peacock (1-4) earned his first win of the season, allowing two runs and five hits and four walks, while striking out five in 6 2-3 innings. The Astros scored two runs or fewer in six of Peacocks previous nine outings entering Sunday. Since Peacock became a starter on April 20, the offence provided 13 runs of support in his previous five starts. "Our hitters came out swinging," Peacock said. "Its a big confidence builder for them and a big confidence builder for us." The Astros have won four of their past five games, while the White Sox have lost six of eight. After taking two of three from the Rangers and White Sox, Houston has won back-to-back series for the first time since last August. The Astros improved to 12-3 when hitting two or more home runs. They are 1-17 when they fail to hit a homer. After a Chris Carter homer in the second inning gave the Astros an early lead, Jonathan Villar sparked a rally with a two-RBI single that scored Jesus Guzman and L.J. Hoes. Guzman advanced to second on a throwing error by left fielder Alejandro De Aza theen stole third and scored when catcher Adrian Nietos attempt to throw him out skipped into the outfield.dddddddddddd The Astros had 10 hits in the game and have had at least nine hits in eight straight games, the clubs longest such streak since 2008. "They were swinging it good," White Sox manager Robin Ventura said. "Any time you get the ball up, especially in this ballpark, youre going to create a lot of problems." Villar later left the game in the seventh inning with a right hand injury, but Porter said the injury was not serious. The White Sox were playing without first baseman Jose Abreu, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with ankle tendinitis. "Everything gets frustrating, especially when you have games like this," Ventura said of Chicagos two errors. "It just needs to be cleaned up." Danks allowed eight runs -- seven earned -- and 10 hits and three walks while striking out seven in 4 2-3 innings. He allowed at least one homer for his fourth consecutive start and fell to 1-3 in that stretch after allowing just one homer through five starts in April, when he was 2-1. "I did a terrible job of keeping the ball in the ballpark," Danks said. Notes: Despite having the worst record in the AL at 16-28, the Astros are 15-11 when hitting home runs. The Astros rank third in the majors and second in the AL with 15 multi-homer games. ... Dexter Fowler has walked in eight straight games, Houstons longest streak since 2006. ... Astros prospect C Brian Holberton hit for the cycle at Class A Quad Cities, going 5 for 5 with two singles, a double, triple, two-run homer and five RBIs in a 10-3 win. ... DETROIT -- If the Texas Rangers are going to overcome the major injuries that have threatened their season, they likely will need significant contributions from rookies like Nick Martinez and Rougned Odor. Martinez pitched six sharp innings for his first major league win, and Odor drove in five runs with a pair of triples to lead the Rangers to a 12-2 rout of the Detroit Tigers on Saturday. Adrian Beltre and Donnie Murphy homered for Texas, which put slugger Prince Fielder on the disabled list this week with a neck problem that is expected to end his season. "Im convinced that I can go out and do it," Martinez said. "I think thats what separates major leaguers and minor leaguers, is that complete trust that they have in themselves." Martinez (1-1) allowed a run and eight hits. The Rangers scored four runs in the fourth, plus three each in the sixth and seventh. Rick Porcello (7-2) had won his last six starts before being knocked around by Texas. He allowed eight runs and 12 hits in 5 1-3 innings. Detroit has lost five of six. Leonys Martin, Murphy and Odor -- the last three hitters in the Texas batting order -- combined for eight hits, eight RBIs and seven runs. Odor had four hits after going 6 for 31 in his first 11 games. "It was nice to see the bottom of the order come through like that," Murphy said. "Its fun, because normally you dont see that. Odour, the day he had, that was unbelievable, and Martin, it was fun watching him too. Im glad that we were productive for the team today." Martinez was making his fourth start for the Rangers, and the 23-year-old right-hander lowered his ERA to 2.14. With Texas ahead 5-1 in the fifth, the Tigers put two men on, but Martinez got Torii Hunter to hit into an inning-ending force play with Miguel Cabrera looming on deck. Martinez ended his day by getting Nick Castellanos to line into a double play with the bases loaded in the sixth. The AL Central-leading Tigers have hit a rough patch. Theyve allowed 45 runs in the last six games, with their normally sturdy starting rotation suddenly looking vulnerable. For the second time in three days, Detroit used knuckleballing infielder Danny Worth to pitch the final inning of a blowout loss. Worth struck out two against Texas on Thursday, but on Saturday he allowed an RBI double to Michael Choice. "I dont want to turn it into a sideshow with a position player pitching, but weve got to do something to rest some of the arms in the bullpen," Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said. Detroit actually scored first on an RBI double by Rajai Davis in the second, but Porcello allowed four runs with two out in the fourth. Chris Gimenez hit an RBI double and scored on a single by Martin. The 20-year-old Odor added a two-run triple. Beltre hit a solo homer in the fifth, and Murphys two-run shot the following inning made it 7-1. Mitch Moreland added an RBI double in the sixth, and Odor hit his second triple in the seventh -- this one with the bases loaded. Texas came into the day having used 39 players this season, tied for the most in baseball. Outfielder Shin-Soo Choo was pulled in the sixth Saturday with a sore left ankle, although the Rangers said the move was precautionary. By then, Texas had broken the game open. The Rangers finished with 19 hits. NOTES: Detroits Ian Kinsler and Victor Martinez and Texas Alex Rios had three hits each. ... Detroit RHP Corey Knebel made his major league debut in relief of Porcello. He allowed the three-run triple by Odor. ... Kinsler extended his hitting streak to 10 games. ... There were replay overturns at first, second and third, two on challenges by the Tigers. In all three cases, the call was changed from safe to out. ... The Tigers wore the uniform of the Detroit Stars, while the Rangers wore the uniform of the Fort Worth Texas Black Panthers as part of a Negro Leagues tribute game. ... Detroit sends RHP Justin Verlander (5-3) to the mound Sunday to face Texas RHP Colby Lewis (3-3). Deatrich Wise Jr. Jersey. -- LeGarrette Blount wasnt satisfied with three short touchdown runs, not against a team coming off the second greatest comeback in playoff history. Deatrich Wise Jr. Womens Jersey.com) - The New York Islanders will try to solve their issues against Central Division opponents when they visit the Minnesota Wild for Tuesdays battle at Xcel Energy Center. http://www.patriotsauthoritystore.com/Authentic-Deatrich-Wise-Jr-Patriots-Jersey/. -- The Grand Rapids Griffins scored three goals in 33 seconds of the second period en route to defeating the Hamilton Bulldogs 6-1 in American Hockey League action on Friday. Deatrich Wise Jr. Patriots Jersey. ST. LOUIS -- Billy Hamilton had three hits and his first two steals, and scored easily after tagging up on a shallow outfield pop fly to support a strong outing from Mike Leake in the Cincinnati Reds 4-0 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday. Leake (1-1) allowed four hits and a walk in eight scoreless innings and Devin Mesoraco hit a two-run home run for the Reds, who avoided a three-game sweep after dropping their ninth series in their last 10 in St. Louis. Theyre 2-4 against the Cardinals, their NL Central rival, and wrapped up a 2-4 trip. Shelby Miller (0-2) allowed his fourth homer in two starts and faced trouble most of his six innings, but held the Reds hitless in nine at-bats with runners in scoring position. Mesoraco hit his first homer in the fourth after doubling twice Tuesday in his first start after coming off the 15-day disabled list. Hamilton entered batting .091 with two hits and seven strikeouts in 22 at-bats and left town batting .192. He reached safely his first three trips beginning with a triple to open the game when left fielder Matt Holliday missed on a diving catch in the gap. After singling to start the fifth he put on a show with his legs, stealing second without a throw, going to third on a flyout to shallow right and scoring easily to beat Jon Jays relay on Bruces pop fly to even shallower right and put the Reds up 3-0. Hamiilton bunted for a hit in the ninth against Pat Neshek and stole second, then scored without a throw on Brandon Phillips one-out single to make it 4-0.dddddddddddd. Leake retired nine of the first 10 hitters and benefited from three double-play balls, two of them in a run of five straight three-up, three-down innings from the second through sixth. Leake was 0-2 in three starts last year against St. Louis while allowing 15 earned runs in 16 1-3 innings and beat them for the first time since Aug. 25, 2012. Millers best work came in the first when he struck out Brandon Phillips and Joey Votto and got Bruce on a groundout to strand Hamilton at third. He gave up three runs on seven hits. Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter made an outstanding diving stop on Leakes grounder down the line in the third. Notes: Slumping cleanup man Allen Craig (.097) was not in the lineup for the Cardinals and the Reds gave Zack Cozart (.038) a day off. Together, those two are 4 for 57. ... Both teams have a day off Thursday. The Reds open a six-game homestand Friday with Johnny Cueto (0-1, 1.93) opposing the Rays and David Price (1-0, 4.05) and the Cardinals and Joe Kelly (1-0, 1.69) begin a three-game series with the Cubs and Jeff Samardzija (0-1, 1.29). ... Michael ONeill hailed the performance of Chris Brunt after he returned to Northern Irelands side in their 4-0 win over Azerbaijan. Brunt, who missed Euro 2016 with injury, made his first international appearance in 13 months as Northern Ireland eased to a victory that moves them up to second in World Cup Qualifying Group C.Kyle Lafferty fired in the opening goal from a long throw before Gareth McAuley and Conor McLaughlin scored from set pieces. The scoring was rounded off when Brunts shot was flicked in by Steven Davis.Asked about Brunts display, ONeill told Sky Sports: He was brilliant. We dont have a like-for-like replacement so when we lost him in the summer [at Euro 2016] we had to change our system. We saw his class tonight. Watch highlights of Northern Irelands win Northern Ireland are now above Azerbaijan on goal difference and ONeill was pleased their gameplan paid off.We played Josh [Magennis] purposefully on the right because we knew their full-back was small, so we exploited that, he said.We got a lot of balls in the box and knew they would struggle to defend that. It was a comfortable victory in the end.Next up for Northern Ireland is another home match next in March when they face Norway. We have drilled it into them, they know how we want to play, said ONeill. They make good decisions at the right times, three of our back four scored, so we are delighted with the result. Didnt need any help this time. Wood beat Cincinnati for the first time in his career, repeatedly pitching out of threats for seven innings, and Chicago stalled the Reds week-long surge with a 2-0 victory Monday night.ATLANTA -- The Dodgers are getting solid performances out of their starting pitchers. Pretty good hitting, too. Dan Haren pitched six innings and sparked the go-ahead rally with a single, leading Los Angeles to another win over the skidding Atlanta Braves, 4-2 on Tuesday night. It was the second night in a row the Dodgers got production out of the ninth spot in the order. The previous night, Kevin Correia had two hits and scored a run. "I was hoping I didnt get thrown out," Haren (10-9) quipped about his hit to right-centre field. "It takes me about eight seconds to get to first." After allowing a fourth-inning homer to B.J. Upton that put the Braves up 2-1, Haren reached base with one out in the fifth. Carl Crawford followed with a double, sending Haren to third, and the pitcher scored the tying run on Yasiel Puigs grounder to third. "Puig hit the ball and I wasnt sure if it was going to the pitcher," Haren said. "I just went!" Matt Kemp hit a little blooper to right that just got over the glove of second baseman Tommy La Stella, bringing home Crawford. That was enough for the Dodgers. Mike Minor (4-8) matched his longest outing of the past month after being skipped his previous turn in the rotation. The Atlanta lefty went 6 2-3 innings, allowing eight hits and three runs. Kenley Jansen earned his 33rd save. The Braves lost for the 11th time in their last 13 games, including two straight to the Dodgers. With Los Angeles up 1-0, Upton drove his ninth homer of the season deep into left-field seats. It was his sixth career homer off the Dodgers right-hander; Upton has no more than three homers against anyone else. Minor came into the game with a 5.42 ERA, having surrendered nine hits, two homers and five runs in his most recent start Aug. 1, a 10-1 loss at San Diego. "I changed some things mechanically, with some of my grips. I thought my stuff was moving better," Minor said. "It was encouraging.dddddddddddd" The Dodgers padded their lead in the ninth without a hit. Braves shortstop Emilio Bonifacio botched an easy grounder, and Darwin Barney hustled all the way to second on the error. Barney moved to third on a groundout, and scored on David Hales wild pitch. TRAINERS ROOM Dodgers: 2B Dee Gordon didnt start because manager Don Mattingly wants to make sure the slender infielder doesnt get too worn down in the heat of summer. "Trying to keep him at 170 (pounds), basically," Mattingly said before the game. Gordon struck out as a pinch hitter in the seventh. Braves: SS Andrelton Simmons took grounders before the game and continues to show improvement from a sprained left ankle. But he missed his sixth straight game, with Bonifacio starting in his place. La Stella, who had to leave Mondays game in the second inning, was back in the lineup after his right hamstring cramped because of dehydration. UP NEXT Dodgers: LHP Hyun-Jin Ryu (13-5) goes for his fifth straight win. Since July 13, he has allowed only seven earned runs in 33 innings (1.91 ERA) while limiting opposing hitters to a .198 average. He has 32 strikeouts and only four walks during his winning streak. Braves: Ervin Santana (11-6) will also be looking to stretch his winning streak to five in a row. He has worked at least six innings in his last 13 starts, and hasnt gone less than five innings in any start this season. YOU GOT IT, NO YOU GOT IT After the Braves tied the game in the third, Jason Heyward popped up right beside the batting circle for the apparent third out. But catcher A.J. Ellis backed off at the last second, apparently thinking first baseman Scott Van Slyke would take it. Van Slyke had stopped a few feet away, however. The ball fell in foul territory between the two players, who just stared at each other in disbelief. The miscue didnt hurt the Dodgers; Heyward flied out to left to end the inning. Wholesale Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Authentic Jerseys From China Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys ' ' '

Scott competed in NASCARs top series from 1961-73. He won his only race at Speedway Park in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1963, winning the 100-mile feature after starting 15th. Scott started 495 Sprint Cup events and had a 147 top 10 finishes. Elliott was the 1988 Sprint Cup champion and his 44 race victories rank 16th in NASCAR history. Series matriarch Anne Bledsoe France was honoured with the inaugural Landmark Award. Chris Pronger Blues Jersey. Not because of any celebration, but because of whats coming the next day: Team USAs Olympic roster announcement. Yandle certainly bolstered his credentials for Sochi with the latest demonstration of his offensive abilities. Yandle scored his second goal with 6.5 seconds showing on the overtime clock and set up Mikkel Boedkers tying goal with 70 seconds left in regulation, helping the Phoenix Coyotes rally for a 4-3 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night. "Its something I take pride in, being a guy if youre down or if they need a goal, hopefully I can help out," Yandle said. He certainly did in keying Phoenixs latest comeback effort. Phoenix dominated most of the opening period, ripping off 15 more shots before the Oilers scored three goals in a little over seven minutes spanning the first and second periods. Trailing 3-1, the Coyotes pulled goalie Thomas Greiss for an extra attacker, and Yandle worked a nifty give-and-go with Boedker for the tying goal in regulation. He topped that as overtime was about to end, fighting off a defender and gathering a bouncing puck to beat former teammate Ilya Bryzgalov. Tim Kennedy also scored, and Greiss stopped 15 shots after replacing Mike Smith in the second period for Phoenix, which has earned a point in six straight games -- all in overtime. "We always talk about scratching and clawing," Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said. "Youve got to do everything you can to get points in the regular season to get yourself into the playoffs. Some are a little bigger character builders than others." The Oilers came out flat in the first period, spending most of it nearly stationary as the Coyotes buzzed around. Edmonton came out of the period tied at 1, thanks to some big saves by Bryzgalov, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins 11th goal. The Oilers found their rhythm a little after that, getting goals from David Perron and Nick Schultz to go up 3-1. But it all fell apart in the closing seconds of regulation and overtime, sending Edmonton to its eighth loss in 10 games. TTaylor Hall had the primary assist on all three of Edmontons goals.dddddddddddd. "The first period was the first taste, and we didnt like that that much. That last goal was a tough one to swallow," Oilers coach Dallas Eakins said. Charged up by the largest home crowd of the season, the Coyotes surged out of the locker room against the Oilers, peppering Bryzgalov with 10 shots in the games opening four minutes. They broke through a few minutes later when Yandle lost the puck, got it back and curled to the right circle, where he beat Bryzgalov stick side with a wrister. Phoenix kept up the pressure, outshooting Edmonton 21-6 in the first period. But for all their work, the Coyotes could manage only a tie heading into the second; Nugent-Hopkins scored with just over a minute left by swiping a backhand through Smiths pads. Edmonton took it from there, scoring 25 seconds into the frame. Perron got the goal, catching Phoenixs defencemen pinching and scoring his 17th of the season on a breakaway. Schultz made it 3-1 six minutes later, taking a whirling pass from Hall and beating Smith, who was replaced by Greiss after allowing three goals on 10 shots. "In the second and third, I thought we played well," Eakins said. "I thought we were matching them, and (Nugent-Hopkins line) was really getting after them." The Coyotes rallied behind a fortunate bounce. A shot by Kennedy hit the side of the net, bounced forward and caromed off Bryzgalovs skate into the net. Phoenix earned at least a point after pulling Greiss to set up Boedkers tying goal, then won it on Yandles fifth goal of the season. Already an All-Star and considered one of the NHLs top offensive defencemen, Yandle might have given himself a little better shot at playing for his country in the Olympics. "It would mean everything," he said. NOTES: Coyotes C Antoine Vermette played his 350th straight game, the NHLs fourth-longest active streak. Yandle has played in 342 straight. ... Hall has multiple points in four of his last five games. ... Phoenix is 9-0-2 in its last 11 games against Edmonton. Wholesale Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Authentic Jerseys From China Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys ' ' '

VANCOUVER -- The Vancouver Canucks season-long six-game homestand started with a gut-punching overtime loss. It ended the exact same way. Mike Richards scored late in regulation before Anze Kopitar buried the winner 48 seconds into the extra period Monday as the Los Angeles Kings came back to stun the Vancouver Canucks 3-2. The Canucks gave up a late goal in regulation in losing to 2-1 to the San Jose Sharks to kick off their homestand on Nov. 17, and a similar script played out against Los Angeles (16-6-3), with Richards scoring with 2:56 left to force OT. "A couple mistakes are costing us," said Canucks captain Henrik Sedin, who gave his team a 2-1 lead in the third period before the wheels fell off. "Were playing so well defensively throughout the game and it seems like every time something late in games is costing us goals. Its extremely tough to take." The Canucks have lost seven of their last eight, scoring just nine goals total in those defeats. They finished their homestand with an ugly 1-2-3 record, with the only victory coming in a 6-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets. "Were really sticking together as a group and thats all you can ask for," said Sedin. "We should have had two points, but again were standing here talking about a loss." Vancouver (12-9-5) is now 0-9-4 when scoring two goals or less and fell to 1-4-3 versus Pacific Division rivals this season. After Richards took a feed from Jeff Carter to tie the score with his sixth of the season, Kopitar beat Luongo upstairs for his seventh of the campaign as the Kings picked up at least a point for a 10th straight game (7-0-3). "Weve just gotta scrape and claw for points, and thats what we did tonight," said Richards. "It wasnt the prettiest on our part. We took too many penalties, and we turned some pucks over, but two points is what we wanted." Kyle Clifford also scored for Los Angeles, which got 37 saves from Ben Scrivens. "Its a big goal to force it to overtime, and any time you can take it to overtime you give yourself a chance," said Scrivens. "Well take the two points." Chris Tanev had the other goal for Vancouver, which dominated the Northwest Division for years but is finding re-aligment to be a much tougher test. "Its a 60-minute game," said Luongo, who finished with 19 saves. "We did some good things, especially in the second half of that game, but obviously we fell short again." Despite the loss, Canucks head coach John Tortorella continued to stress the positives as his team continues to struggle to get results under his new puck-pressure system. "Im very excited about some of the things that happened tonight. You may call me crazy, but I am," said Tortorella. "Weve just got to keep banging away and work on some details of the game, understand situational play and keep working at this." Vancouvers 28th-ranked power play was a miserable 0 for 7 on the night before Sedin beat Scrivens with a quick shot on the Canucks eighth man advantage to snap a 1-1 tie at 6:59. Down 1-0 after the first period, Vancouver found some life after Sedin took a big hit from Jordan Nolan midway through the second. Sedin stayed down for a moment but didnt miss a shift. The play woke the Canucks up and they started to take the body more, with Ryan Stanton eventually dropping the gloves with Nolan. "I thought we took the game over after the hit with Henrik," said Tortorella. "I thought we were acting properly as a team and took the game over, scored on a power play, did all the right things. "We didnt finish the game. Need to finish the game." After Vancouver killed off a penalty from the scrum that accompanied that fight, Tanev fired a harmless looking shot from the point that Scrivens could only get a piece of to tie the score with his first of the season at 17:04. The Canucks had plenty of opportunities with the man advantage earlier in the period -- including a 5-on-3 and two short 4-on-3s -- but the disjointed unit continued to struggle. Another Kings penalty late in the period gave the Canucks another chance. But Scrivens, who has been stellar in place of injured Kings starter Jonathan Quick, was there to shut the door when called upon as Vancouver outshot L.A. 13-2. After the Canucks gave up a number of odd-man rushes in Saturdays 2-1 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks, including Marcus Krugers winner in the third period, the Kings opened the scoring Monday on their third 2-on-1 of the night at 13:50 of the first period. With both fourth lines on the ice, feathered a pass to Clifford, who made a nice backhand move to beat a sprawling Luongo for his second goal of the season. The Canucks now hit the road for four games, starting with a game against the Ottawa Senators on Thursday night. "Part of my job is to make sure that the psyche of the hockey club, in these types situations, stays solid," said Tortorella. "I trust the group. I do. I think the players understand how we want to play, our concept. "Weve gone through a lot crap here, as far as things going wrong at certain times but I think theyve handled themselves well and were just going to stay with them and keep on working at it." Notes: Vancouvers Daniel Sedin lost a tooth to a high stick early in the second period. ... Tanev now has three goals in 118 career games. ... Quick injured his groin on Nov. 12 and is expected to be out until late December. ... Carter returned to the lineup after missing 10 games with a foot injury. ... Canucks forward David Booth returned to the lineup after sitting out the last three games as a healthy scratch. ... Monday was the second of five meetings between the two teams this season. "Youre not supposed to do that, are you?" he said. The way this magical round went, nothing was going to stop him. Sutherland became the first player in Champions Tour history to shoot a 59, and it might have been even better except for a three-putt bogey from about 40 feet just off the 18th green. "Thank God I didnt four-putt," he said. Six players have shot 59 on the PGA Tour, including Paul Goydos, Sutherlands best friend on tour. Goydos was among several players who stood behind the 18th green to watch Sutherland complete a round that was practically flawless until the end. "Honestly, the ovation I got on 18 ... I know Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer are used to that stuff, but to see all those guys behind the green, I couldnt believe it," Sutherland said. "I was nervous when I was putting." "Honestly, the ovation I got on 18 ... I know Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer are used to that stuff, but to see all those guys behind the green, I couldnt believe it," Sutherland said. "So when they stood up, everybody stood up around the green and was clapping, I got some chills. I think thats what Im going to remember most." The 59 gave Sutherland a one-shot lead over Steve Lowery going into the final round. He was at 14-under 130. Sutherland, playing in only his third Champions Tour event since turning 50 in June, recalls asking some of the players at the start of the week if anyone had ever shot 59 on the senior circuit and was surprised it had not been done. He would not have seemed a likely candidate. Sutherlands career-low round on the PGA Tour was a 62 in the 2010 Canadian Open. Even at home in Sacramento, California, he never seriously came close to golfs magic number. On Saturday at En-Joie Golf Club, he couldnt miss. Sutherland oppened with four straight birdies -- two of them longer than 30 feet -- and hit hybrid into 6 feet for eagle on the par-5 fifth hole.dddddddddddd He ran off three more birdies, including a bunker shot he holed on No. 7 that hit the pin instead of rolling 10 feet away. Sure enough, after thinking about a 59, he made par on No. 9 to go out in 27. "When I was 9 under after eight I was like, That goes beyond being a good start," Sutherland said. "At that point I started thinking, What do you have to do to shoot 59. I started thinking maybe earlier than you should be, but it worked out all right." Not only did the gallery begin to grow, Sutherland said the players ahead would watch him hit into the green. He made a 35-foot birdie putt on No. 11 for his second straight birdie, and then settled down for three straight pars. "It got to the point where I didnt want to disappoint them," Sutherland said. "I had a 10-footer on 13 and missed it, and you would have thought I stole their young. They were really into it." He drove onto the par-4 16th hole for a two-putt birdie to reach 13 under, and then he stuffed his approach to tap-in distance on the 17th, leaving him a par away from 58. "I wasnt nervous all day, but I was nervous on 18," he said. "You dont get that chance very often." Lowery had nine birdies in his round of 65. John Cook had a 67 and was two shots behind. Cook was on the sixth tee when he heard about the 59. "Its a phenomenal round," Cook said. "Well try to run him down." Scott Hoch was 11 under after a 64, and Bernhard Langer had a 67 to top the group at 10 under. Sutherland, even though he has a piece of history, wants the trophy. His lone win on the PGA Tour was the 2002 Match Play Championship at La Costa. "Ill try to forget tomorrow what I did today," he said. "Because that could be pretty difficult to compare." Wholesale Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Authentic Jerseys From China Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys ' ' '

CHICAGO - Jake Allen made 21 saves for his third shutout of the season as the Chicago Wolves blanked the visiting Abbotsford Heat 2-0 on Sunday in American Hockey League action. Evan Oberg opened the scoring for the Wolves (31-17-6) 9:27 into the first period and Ty Rattie added an insurance goal at 12:17 of the third while Abbotsfords Shane OBrien was serving a double minor for high sticking. Josh Jooris and Blair Jones led all Heat (33-17-5) skaters with four shots apiece on Allen while aaron Dell stopped 19-of-21 shots in defeat. Chicago went 2 for 7 on the power play while Abbotsford failed to score on five chances with the man advantage. Paul Coffey Oilers Jersey Authentic. -- A year ago, Flavia Pennetta was close to retiring from tennis. Grant Fuhr Oilers Jersey Authentic. Goins is the early favourite to win the starting job at second base. Pillar is an outsider to secure a role off the bench, which becomes an even more difficult spot to win if the number of back up jobs is reduced by one. That happens if the Blue Jays decide to start the season with an eight man bullpen. http://www.hockeyoilersshop.com/wayne-gretzky-jersey/. New York (16-9-8) took over first place in the Eastern Conference and has the best record in the league with one game remaining. I wondered how NHL coaches would feel about a playoff schedule that allowed them to open a best-of-seven series on the road, which many claim to favour, yet still gave them the precious home-ice edge for a seventh game. Ryan Smyth Oilers Jersey Authentic. Jacob Jacques, Andrew Ryan and Jonathan Drouin also scored for Halifax (37-18-3), who outshot the Islanders 40-26. Kevin Darveau stopped 25 shots. Bradley Kennedy had the lone goal for Charlottetown (18-33-5), which has nine losses in its last 10 games. CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Cam Newton walked into the press conference Sunday afternoon, flashed that familiar smile and gave a tip of the hat to his former college team. "War Eagle. War Eagle. War. Damn. Eagle," Newton said. Less than 24 hours after the Auburn Tigers pulled off an incredible victory over No. 1 Alabama, Newton had another reason to smile. Carolinas third-year quarterback capped a memorable weekend by throwing for 263 yards and two touchdowns and "Superman" leaped over the pile for another score as the Panthers (9-3) defeated Tampa Bay 27-6 Sunday for a franchise-record eighth straight regular season victory. "It wasnt prototypical, or the way we wanted to win, but we found a way to win and thats the most encouraging part about it," said Newton, who rebounded from two interceptions. The victory set up a huge game next Sunday night in New Orleans against the Saints with first place in the NFC South on the line. "Were ready," said fullback Mike Tolbert, who had 48 yards rushing and 41 yards receiving in the win. "Around here we pride ourselves on being able to follow up one game with another." The Panthers outgained the Buccaneers (3-9) 426-206. Newton ran for 68 yards, 53 on a first quarter run to set up Carolinas first touchdown. Newton, who led Auburn to a national championship and won a Heisman Trophy with the Tigers, is enjoying the best stretch of this professional career with 13 touchdown passes and five TDs rushing during the win streak. Carolinas defence came in allowing an NFL-low 13.7 points per game and forced two turnovers and sacked rookie Mike Glennon five times to snap Tampa Bays three-game winning streak. Glennon had thrown a touchdown pass in an NFL record eight straight games to start his career, but the Panthers kept the Bucs out of the end zone. The Panthers have not lost since a 22-6 defeat on the road to Arizona on Oct. 6 and confidence is at an all-time high in the locker room. "There is no roof, no sky," defensive end Greg Hardy said. "Were going up. Every person on this team, every coach on this team has the same mentality right now. I feel like its contagious. Fans are getting it. They feel like they cant be beat." The turning point came in the second quarter with the Panthers holding a 7-6 lead. Glennon rolled left on third-and-goal at the Carolina 4 and had the ball inexplicaably slip out of his throwing hand without being touched and Panthers defensive tackle Dwan Edwards pounced on the loose ball at the 17.dddddddddddd "It just slipped out of my hand, and it really hurt us because we would have gotten at least three points," Glennon said. The Panthers cashed in with a 23-yard field goal by Graham Gano. Newton made it 17-6 with 25 seconds left in the half when coach Ron Rivera went for it on fourth-and-goal at the 1. With fans holding signs that read "Riverboat Ron" in the stands, Newton dove headfirst over the pile, extending the ball over the goal line. The Panthers are now 8 of 9 when going for it on fourth-and-1 since his teams Week 2 loss to Buffalo, a big reason for Carolinas turnaround. It was all Panthers in the second half. Safety Mike Mitchell intercepted Glennon on the opening drive and Newton quickly took advantage. He moved the Panthers 78 yards in four plays, connecting on a 36-yard touchdown pass to Ted Ginn Jr., who beat Darrelle Revis on a double move. Glennon was 14 of 21 for 80 yards with an interception. "I dont know if it was a step back, but maybe he looked a little more like a rookie than hes looked in the past," Bucs coach Greg Schiano said. "The ball slips out of his hand going to his left. Thats an awkward deal, and unfortunate, but it happened. The throw to Vincent (Jackson) that gets intercepted and the flag gets picked up, it just didnt look like it came off his hand cleanly. Im not sure if theres any reason." Its hard to imagine the Panthers now have a shot at a first-round bye in the NFC playoffs after starting the season 1-3, when talk was rampant about Riveras future with the team. "Its unbelievable," said defensive end Wes Horton, who had two of Carolinas sacks. "When we were 1-3 it was tense, we were trying to find ourselves as a team. And now were rolling and everyone is one the same page." NOTES: Revis left the game in the third quarter with a shoulder and chest injury and did not return. He will be reevaluated on Monday. ... Greg Olsen had 85 yards receiving on five catches. ... Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith moved into 20th in NFL yards receiving, passing Derrick Mason and Hines Ward. ... RB Jonathan Stewart started for Carolina in place of DeAngelo Williams, who sat with a quadriceps bruise. Wholesale Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Authentic Jerseys From China Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys ' ' '

WASHINGTON -- The Washington Wizards are a .500 basketball team for the first time in years, and John Wall wants to build on the early success. Wall had 16 points and 13 assists to lead Washington to a 98-80 victory over the Orlando Magic on Monday night. Trevor Ariza scored 24 points, Nene had 14 and Marcin Gortat finished with 13 as Washington (9-9) got to .500 for the first time since it split its first four games of the 2009-10 season, when Wall was just a touted freshman at Kentucky. "We are playing basketball the right way, trusting our teammates and trusting our defensive concepts," Wall said. With top scorer Bradley Beal out of the lineup for the fifth straight game, Ariza supplied the offence. He was 8 for 9 from the field and made each of his four 3-point attempts, three off passes from Wall. The Wizards have won seven of nine and are 4-1 since Beal went out with a leg injury. Reaching .500 is no small feat for a Washington team that opened 0-8 in 2011-12 and 0-12 last year. "These guys lost a lot of games last year," Gortat said. "Everybodys excited were finally winning." Arron Afflalo scored 21 points for Orlando, and Victor Oladipo added 13 points and six rebounds in a special game for the rookie. Oladipo is from nearby Upper Marlboro, Md. He had a tough assignment against Washington, trying to keep up with Wall. "Hes a good player. Gets everybody else involved," Oladipo said. "Hes improved on his jump shot. Hes a one-man fast break." Maurice Harkless had 16 points, but the Magic still lost for the ninth time in 12 games. Washington outscored Orlando 30-19 in the second quarter to take a 52-41 lead at the break. The Magic scored six straight points to pull to 62-55 in the second half, but the Wizards responded with a 9-0 run. Gortat keyed the surge with a pair of jumpers and Wall had a big jumper and a 3-pointer. Washington stretched its lead to as many as 21 points in the fourth quarter. "Their bigs demanded a lot of attention," Magic coach Jacque Vaughn said. "Nene was a force in the inside, Gortat was a force in the inside, and we had to react a little bit, and Ariza made 3s, and there you have it." Ariza helped the Wizards get off to a fast start, making two 3-pointers and a fast-break dunk during Washingtons game-opening 15-2 run. The surge by the Wizards set the stage for a see-saw first half. Oladipo steadied Orlando with seven quick points. Then, with Wall on the bench, Afflalo scored the final eight points of a 10-0 run that bridged the quarters and gave Orlando a 24-22 early in the second quarter. The Magic stretched their advantage to five points. But Wall helped the Wizards get back on track offensively and regain the lead for good. Ariza, Nene and Wall combined for all the points as Washington scored 24 in the final 6:07 of the half. When Wall hit an off-balance 3-pointer at the buzzer, the Wizards had an 11-point lead. "Its just something we knew we could do. Were not satisfied," said Ariza, who has made nine of his last 10 3-point tries. "We want to continue this winning thing, make it a tradition around here." NOTES: Washington outrebounded Orlando 42-40. ... The Magic were 3 for 15 from 3-point range, compared to 9 for 13 for the Wizards. . The 80 points were a season low for Orlando and the fewest points allowed this season by Washington. Adam Oates Bruins Jersey. Last year, Matt Kuchar closed with a 4-under 68 to beat Kevin Chappell by two strokes for his second win of the 2013 season and sixth of his career. Scott Cullen looks at a night of shutouts in the NHL playoffs, with notes on Beau Bennett, Paul Martin, Brandon Dubinsky, Tyson Barrie, Vladimir Tarasenko, the goalies and more. PENGUINS RALLY Things were looking pretty good for the Columbus Blue Jackets, leading 3-1 just over a minute into the third period, but then the Pittsburgh Penguins mounted their comeback, scoring three unanswered goals, to escape with a 4-3 win and take a 2-1 lead in the series. There were a couple facets of the Penguins comeback that were interesting. First off, Pittsburgh outshot Columbus 15-5 in the third period, 14-1 over the first 12:06 the period, and while score effects account for a change in possession numbers, the Penguins controlled play the exact way that a team should when attempting to mount a comeback. Over a span of 2:13 in the third period, the Penguins scored three goals on three shots, with Brandon Sutter, Lee Stempniak and Jussi Jokinen getting credit for the goals. With Brooks Orpik scoring the first goal for Pittsburgh, they managed to earn a 4-3 win despite no goals from any of their top four goal scorers (Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, James Neal, Chris Kunitz) during the regular season. to be fair, the Penguins big guns dominated possession, with Crosby, Kunitz, Malkin, Neal and Jokinen all finishing with a Corsi% of at least 69.7%. Pittsburghs supporting cast has been playing big roles in this series. Winger Beau Bennett added a couple of assists and now has four points (1 G, 3 A) in three games and was one of three Penguins forwards to play less than 10 minutes. D Paul Martin recorded two assists for the third straight game, while playing a game-high 28:34. Blue Jackets C Brandon Dubinsky had a strong game for Columbus, picking up a couple of assists and nearly tied the game in the final seconds with a slick toe drag move around Martin followed by a strong drive to the net. The third period was exactly what the Blue Jackets should fear from the Penguins. When Pittsburgh turns up the heat, they can play at a higher level than the Blue Jackets and that puts a lot of pressure on G Sergei Bobrovsky if Columbus isnt at least competitive in terms of possession. GREAT GRANLUND The Minnesota Wild dominated Game Three territorially, but still needed overtime to emerge victorious against the Colorado Avalanche, taking a 1-0 win in Game Three and cutting Colorados series lead to two games to one. The winning goal, and the games only goal, was a brilliant effort from Wild C Mikael Granlund, who eluded Avalanche D Jan Hejda on the right wing boards, drove to the net, past C Mark-Andre Cliche, and tucked the puck around Avalanche G Semyon Varlamov. Granlund has been a strong performer, with a 54.3% Corsi% in the series, but his goal was his first point in the three games. Avalanche G Semyon Varlamov was spectacular, stopping 45 of 46 shots and nearly stealing the game for Colorado. Coming into the series, Varlamov was the one advantage that the Avalanche could lean on, but its asking a lot for a goaltender to make the difference for a team that gets outshot 46-22. Darcy Kuemper, taking over for Ilya Bryzgalov in the Minnesota net, stopped all 22 shots for the win; pretty surethat ought to earn him another start. Wild LW Matt Cooke is due for another suspension after delivering a blatant knee-on-knee hit to Avalanche D Tyson Barrie and the Avalanche already know that they are going to be missing Barrie for the next 4-6 weeks.dddddddddddd With Barrie out, Nick Holden played a career-high 28:04 for the Avalanche, and he may be asked to handle more minutes in Barries absence. Stefan Elliott may be next in line to join the Avalanche defence for Game Four, as Cory Sarich is still dealing with back spasms and Ryan Wilson has played sporadically, especially in the second half of the season. With Cooke expected to be out, Kyle Brodziak or Stephane Veilleux could return to the lineup. Given how thoroughly the Wild dominated play in Game Three, and the significance of the Tyson Barrie injury, this series is far from over. BLACKHAWKS ON THE BOARD Blackhawks G Corey Crawford stopped all 34 shots he faced, outdueling Blues G Ryan Miller in a 2-0 Chicago win that cut St. Louis series lead to two games to one. Chicago scored an empty-netter with 20 seconds remaining in the third period, so the only shot that beat Miller was a wrist shot by Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews 4:10 into the game. With Blackhawks D Brent Seabrook suspended, Sheldon Brookbank stepped into the Chicago lineup, playing 14:32 and paired frequently with Duncan Keith, but his 38.5% Corsi% was the lowest among Chicago defencemen. For the Blues, C Patrik Berglund returned to the lineup, but the top line adjusted to David Backes absence by moving Alexander Steen to centre and then bumping Steve Ott to left wing. Ott played 20:05 and was one of six Blues to have at least two-thirds of possession at 5-on-5. Blues RW Vladimir Tarasenko was outstanding, a plus-16 Corsi (20 for, 4 against) for the game, while the Blues were a net plus-1 (32 for, 31 against) Corsi when Tarasenko was off the ice. Chicago needed to win Game Three to have a chance in the series, and while they might not count on Crawford to win the goaltending battle too often, he did it Monday night. STARS BLANK DUCKS Returning home down two games to none, the Dallas Stars faced a must-win situation in Game Three, and G Kari Lehtonen backstopped them to a 3-0 victory, stopping 37 shots. If there was one clear area in which the Stars might hold an advantage in this series, it is that Lehtonen has more of a track record than Ducks rookie Frederik Andersen. Jamie Benn, Valeri Nichushkin and Ryan Garbutt scored for the Stars, with Garbutt leading the Stars with six shots on goal. The Ducks got the better part of the possession game, ultimately, led by C Mathieu Perreault, who was plus-15 (19 for, 4 against) for a Ducks team that ended up as plus-9 in terms of Corsi. Ducks winger Devante Smith-Pelly, skating with Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry on the top line, had 10 hits and a 62.5% Corsi%. The big issue for the Ducks coming out of this game was the loss of D Stephane Robidas, who had played more than 20 minutes a game for the Ducks since he was acquired from Dallas, but suffered a leg fracture that will end his season. Robidas had fractured the leg on November 29 and returned to action March 18. His absence creates an opening for either Luca Sbisa or Mark Fistric. This is another series in which the underdog has a chance, but needed the Game Three win to even harbour hopes. Now, the Stars have hope and Anaheim losing a top-four defenceman doesnt diminish the odds of the Stars making a comeback. PHILADELPHIA - Cole Hamels has been placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Philadelphia Phillies

PHILADELPHIA - Cole Hamels has been placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Philadelphia Phillies with left biceps tendinitis. The move Friday was made retroactive to March 21. Hamels, a three-time All-Star and the 2008 World Series MVP, went 8-14 with a 3.60 ERA last season. He had been sidelined all spring until tossing two innings in a minor league game Thursday. Hamels announced the day before camp opened that he was experiencing discomfort in his pitching shoulder. Also placed on the 15-day DL by Philadelphia were right-handed reliever Mike Adams (right shoulder), infielder Freddy Galvis (knee infection), right-hander Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez (right shoulder), right-hander Ethan Martin (right shoulder) and outfielder Darin Ruf (left oblique). Customized Edmonton Oilers Jerseys. Ferrer, the two-time defending champion in Buenos Aires, is aiming to win his 21st ATP tournament. Ferrer will next face fellow Spaniard Nicolas Almagro, the fourth seed, who defeated Jeremy Chardy of France 7-6 (7), 6-3 in another quarterfinal match. Teddy Purcell Oilers Jersey. The win puts Arsenal four points clear of Everton in fourth place with two games to play in the Premier League, a position which would qualify the club for Europes top competition for the 17th straight year. Paul Coffey Oilers Jersey Authentic. And it showed Thursday night. The Canadiens, playing in their second game in as many days, however, got a good performance in the end from their backup goaltender as he filled in for an injured Olympic gold medallist . DENVER -- Semyon Varlamov and the Colorado Avalanche found a cure for their first slump of the season -- play the Stanley Cup champs. Colorado came up big against Chicago last spring, and repeated that performance Tuesday night. Varlamov stopped 36 shots and Paul Stastny had a goal and an assist for the Avalanche in a 5-1 victory over the Blackhawks. Gabriel Landeskog and John Mitchell also scored during Colorados three-goal first period. P.A. Parenteau and Cody McLeod added goals in the second and third for Colorado, which snapped a three-game skid. "You always say a win is a win, and it is. But at the same time our strength is our team morale and confidence," Landeskog said. "It feels good. It doesnt mean anything unless we go into Phoenix and play well." Brandon Saad scored for the Blackhawks, who failed to get at least two goals for the first time this season. Colorado ended Chicagos NHL-record streak of 24 consecutive games with at least a point to start a season in a 6-2 win last March. "Maybe we tend to respect them a little more than other teams, which we shouldnt," Stastny said. "We should respect everyone the same way. When youre young, that happens. Theyre the defending champs and you always want to play your best against the best." Antti Raanta made 14 saves in his NHL debut for the Blackhawks. He played the final 46:23 in relief of Corey Crawford, who allowed three goals on seven shots. "The target all the time was that someday I could play in the NHL, and in Rockford I had good games there, and I know I can do it," he said. "Only now its the small things, so we have to keep doing work and prepare to be even better all the time." The Blackhawks had their opportunities in outshooting Colorado 37-23. They had several quality chances to get back in the game in the second period but couldnt put one past Varlamov. Colorado stumbled after winning 14 of its first 16 games but capitalized on its chances in the first period this time. Stastny scored when Brent Seabrooks pass off the boards ricocheted to himm in the slot, and he beat Crawford with a slap shot.dddddddddddd Landeskog gave Colorado a two-goal lead when he redirected Andre Benoits shot from the point past Crawford with 7:39 left in the period. Just 56 seconds later, Mitchell made it 3-0. "We had a really good start. We were really sharp around the net and scored nice goals," Avalanche coach Patrick Roy said. Raanta, recalled Sunday, replaced Crawford after Mitchells goal. He faced only seven shots over the next 25 minutes but allowed his first goal late in the second period. After the Blackhawks had several strong chances in front of Varlamov, Parenteau skated down the left boards and beat Raanta with a shot from the circle to make it 4-0 with 1:22 left in the second. "The fourth goal was big for us. They were buzzing in our zone and Varly made some key saves for us," Roy said. "Youre always afraid being up 3-0 of having a letdown. But we were moving our feet." McLeod scored his first goal of the season on a rebound 1:44 into the third. Chicago lost forward Bryan Bickell in the first period after he crashed into the Avalanche net. He didnt return, and coach Joel Quenneville said after the game that Bickell might be more than day to day. "But Im not sure of that," Quenneville said. Its a tough blow for the Blackhawks, who are playing without forwards Michael Handzus and Marian Hossa. "Bicksie is obviously a big part of this and you hope its not too long," Kris Versteeg said. "Obviously, we need him in the lineup." NOTES: Colorado forward Maxime Talbot and defenceman Tyson Barrie had two assists each. ... There were only two penalties called in the game, one on each team. ... Avalanche C Matt Duchene is expected to miss at least a week with an oblique injury sustained in Saturdays loss to Florida. ... Hossa missed his third straight game with a lower-body injury. ... Colorado placed forward Alex Tanguay (knee) and defenceman Ryan Wilson (back) on injured reserve and recalled C Brad Malone and Barrie from Lake Erie of the AHL. Wholesale Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Authentic Jerseys From China Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys ' ' '

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Major League Baseball is returning to Panama for the first time since 1947 when the New York Yankees meet the Miami Marlins in exhibition play. The "Legend Series" will be played on March 15th-16th at Panama Citys Rod Carew Stadium and will honor the legacy of newly retired Yankees great and Panama native Mariano Rivera, the games all-time saves leader. Rivera will serve as one of the promoters of the affair and the series will also include charitable events off the field, including a gala featuring representation of both teams on March 14 that will benefit the Mariano Rivera Foundation. "As long as I can remember, it has been my dream to bring my team, the Yankees, to play baseball in Panama," Rivera said. "I grew up in Puerto Caimito, where I developed my passion for baseball and began a journey that brought me to New York. It is my hope that this legacy series will inspire other young players to pursue their dreams. I am grateful to Major League Baseball, the Players Association, the Yankees and the Marlins in making this dream become a reality." The games will be a rematch of the 2003 World Series and Panama will become the seventh country to host games between major league clubs (Mexico, Japan, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, and China). In the spring of 1947, the Yankees and the Brooklyn Dodgers played exhibition games in Panama during a trip that also featured stops in Cuba, Puerto Rico and Venezuela. P.K Subban Predators Jersey.NYCFC confirmed to The Associated Press on Saturday that this week Lampard signed a contract to start in July — midway through the new teams first season in MLS. Custom Nashville Predators Jersey. His actions are much louder on the Fenway Park mound. De La Rosa had another strong home start, going seven solid innings to lift the Boston Red Sox to a 2-1 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Saturday night.BOSTON -- In the months leading up to a fatal double shooting, Aaron Hernandez had become increasingly convinced that people had been "testing, trying or otherwise disrespecting him" when he went to nightclubs, prosecutors said. When a man bumped into Hernandez while dancing, spilling his drink, that may have been the last straw. Authorities say the former New England Patriots star followed the man and his friends, then opened fire on their car, killing two men and wounding a third. "I think I got one in the head and one in the chest," Hernandez said to a friend as they raced from the intersection where the victims were shot while they sat in their car at a stop light, prosecutors said at the former tight ends arraignment. Hernandez, already charged with killing another man last year, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to seven charges -- including two counts of first-degree murder -- in the 2012 shooting that killed Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado. The night de Abreu and Furtado were killed, Suffolk County First Assistant District Attorney Patrick Haggan said Hernandez and a friend drove from Connecticut to a Boston nightclub called Cure. They were standing at the edge of the dance floor when de Abreu accidentally bumped into Hernandez, smiled at him and did not apologize, according to prosecutors. Haggan said de Abreu and his friends did not appear to recognize Hernandez and had no idea he was upset. Hernandez became increasingly agitated and told his friend that de Abreu had deliberately bumped into him and "was trying him," Haggan said. Hernandez and his friend then went to another nightclub, where Hernandez thought he saw de Abreu and his friends come in, according to Haggan. Hernandez then told his friend he believed he was "being targeted and being disrespected," Haggan said. In fact, de Abreu and his friends had not left the other club. Haggan said Hernandez later drove around with his frieend until he saw de Abreu, Furtado and others going to their car, then followed them and pulled up alongside their car at a red light.dddddddddddd Hernandez leaned out the drivers side, said "Yo, whats up now," followed by a racial slur, then fired at least five shots into the car, killing de Abreu and Furtado, and injuring a man sitting in the back seat, Haggan said. Hernandezs attorney, Charles Rankin, objected to the description, saying the prosecutors account of the shooting was an attempt to poison the jury pool. Clerk Magistrate Gary Wilson dismissed the objection, saying it is standard procedure for prosecutors to describe evidence during arraignments in murder cases. Family members of the victims filled four rows in the courtroom. One woman sobbed loudly as Hernandez entered his not guilty pleas. De Abreu and Furtado were close friends who attended school and served in the military together in Cape Verde before coming to the United States, according to the attorney who represents their families in a $6 million civil suit against Hernandez. The two men were shot about six weeks before Hernandez signed a five-year, $40 million contract with the Patriots. He went on to catch 51 passes and score five touchdowns that season, his last in the NFL. Hernandez was released by the Patriots last summer after he was charged in the June 17 killing of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd, who was dating a sister of Hernandezs fiancee. Lloyds body was found in an industrial area near Hernandezs home in North Attleborough. Hernandezs lawyers have said he is looking forward to proving his innocence. Suffolk District Attorney Daniel Conley would not comment when reporters asked if Lloyds killing was linked to the earlier killings of de Abreu and Furtado. He said Lloyd was not the friend who was with Hernandez the night the two men were killed. Hernandez will continue to be held without bail. He is due back in court June 24. Wholesale Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Authentic Jerseys From China Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys ' ' '

Former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre vacated his title in December, a month after a co

Former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre vacated his title in December, a month after a controversial split decision victory over Johny Hendricks. It is a decision that has allowed the Canadian MMA star to find a little peace in his life. "Im very happy, Im sleeping better, I dont regret anything," said St-Pierre to TSN.ca. "Im very happy with the decision I made." The time away from the cage has allowed the Saint-Isidore, Quebec native to focus on other interests. During the Sochi 2014 Olympics, St-Pierre put his money where his mouth is regarding the Canadian mens hockey team. He made a jersey bet with one of his friends during the Canada vs. USA semifinal game and one with UFC light-heavyweight number one contender Alexander Gustafsson, a native of Arboga, Sweden, over the gold medal game. St-Pierres belief in the Canadian national hockey team never wavered and was rewarded. "I was confident enough to make the bet," said St-Pierre. "I was happy that I won." As for representing Canada on an international stage, St-Pierre sees himself a little different than those athletes that wore the maple leaf during the Olympics. "My sport is not a team sport, I dont represent a county and I have fans around the world," said St-Pierre. "I try to present a good image for anyone that looks up to me wherever they are from. Im doing it for myself and my fans." At UFC 171 Hendricks, who narrowly lost to St-Pierre in what was also his last bout, will take on Robbie Lawler for the vacated welterweight title. The former champ will be a very interested observer. "Im going to watch the fight because its a fight I want to see and its going to be a good fight." As for picking a favourite, GSP gives a slight edge to the last man he faced before turning over the title. "Striking wise they both have the capacity to knock each other out. Ill give the edge to Hendricks because he has an edge in the wrestling and grappling." Patrick Kane USA Jersey.Currently no, Tatjana Haenni, FIFAs deputy director of the competitions division and head of womens competitions, said Tuesday in an interview from Ottawa. Ryan Miller USA Jersey. -- EJ Manuel followed the worst game of his career with the best. http://www.hockeyteamusajerseystore.com/John-Carlson-Jersey/. PETERSBURG, Fla.HONG KONG -- Canada moved up two places to seventh in the IRB Sevens World Series standings after finishing tied for seventh Sunday at the Hong Kong Rugby Sevens. New Zealand brushed aside England 26-7 to win the event and reclaim top spot in the overall standings. The All Blacks, the defending World Series champions, won their third tournament this season in style, running four tries past England to claim their 11th Cup championship in Hong Kong and first since 2011. Canada finished runner-up to England in Pool C with a 2-1-0 record to reach the quarter-finals of the elite Cup competition for the fourth event in a row. And it led Australia twice in Sundays quarter-final -- 5-0 and 12-7 on tries by Harry Jones and Ciaran Hearn -- before giving up a converted try in the final minute. Canada then lost 31-14 to Wales in the consolation Plate semifinal. Wales led 19-0 before Canada got on the board. Jones and Sean Duke scored tries for Canada. The Canadians were without captain Nathan Hirayama, ruled out by injury. Canada finished 12th in last years series standings. In Sundays final, first-half tries from Ben Lam and Tim Mikkelson gave New Zealand a 12-0 lead but England hit back just before the break when Tom Powell burst through to touch down from a quickly taken tap penalty to reduce the deficit to just five points. But evergreen captain DJ Forbes, who had a huge impact on the final day with his bustling play at the breakdown, quickly put New Zealand back in command, stretching the lead after receiving a hugge cut-out pass from Sherwin Stowers to score uncontested.dddddddddddd "We were given a lesson by England last week (in Tokyo) but here we are on the podium. It feels good to win in Hong Kong again," said an elated Forbes. Despite a second try by Lam being overturned, and the winger being penalized for an off-the-ball offence, the men in black had too much firepower and sub Sam Dickson sealed victory with his sides fourth try. The victory allowed New Zealand to regain the lead from South Africa who had entered the Hong Kong Sevens holding a two-point lead. With two more legs remaining in Scotland and England in May, New Zealand top the standings with 136 points, seven points ahead of South Africa who stumbled badly after losing in the Cup quarter-finals to England, 14-7. Fiji are third on 112 while England fourth on 105. England had booked its berth in the Cup final with a 17-7 victory over Fiji in the semifinal. Fiji had looked impressive in the run-up and seemed on course for back-to-back titles after winning in Tokyo last week but came undone against a disciplined English side. New Zealands path to the final was a 28-5 win over Wales in the quarter-finals followed by a 19-7 victory over trans-Tasman rivals Australia. Japan became the first Asian team to win a core team spot on the World Series when it won the qualifying tournament defeating Italy 26-5. Japan will play in the remaining two legs this season in Scotland and England, and all nine legs in the World Series next season. Wholesale Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Authentic Jerseys From China Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys ' ' '

INDIANAPOLIS -- Trailing after the first half, the Pacers fell back on what they do best, upping the defensive pressure to frustrate the Pelicans and pull out the victory. Paul George scored 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead four Pacers in double figures and Indiana rallied from a seven-point, second-quarter deficit for a 99-82 win over New Orleans on Saturday night. George said the Pacers had to get after Eric Gordon after the former Indiana University star repeatedly drove the lane in the first half to score 17 of his 21 points. "Hes a tough matchup," the 6-foot-9 George said of the 6-4 Gordon. "Hes so quick. He has a great centre of gravity. He has great second and third moves. "I did what I do: use my length and crowd him." George said the Pacers knew they had to defend better after New Orleans shot 52.5 per cent (21 of 40) in the first half. Despite getting good looks, the Pacers shot 41.9 per cent (18 of 43) before intermission. "We knew eventually that the shots we were going to fall," George said. "We just play so well defensively, we know thats going to keep us in the game. We just stuck to our defence." Lance Stephenson scored 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting, Danny Granger came off the bench to score a season-high 13 and George Hill added 10 for Indiana. Alexis Ajinca scored a season-high 17 points, reserve Tyreke Evans added 12 and Anthony Davis 10 for New Orleans. Pelicans shooting forward Ryan Anderson remained in a Boston hospital after sustaining a cervical stinger when he collided with the Celtics Gerald Wallace and fell hard to the floor Friday night. Five different Pacers scored as Indiana went on a 14-0 run over a 4:12 span of the third quarter. The Pelicans, meanwhile, missed seven straight field goals. The frustrated Pelicans also drew three technical fouls during the Pacers third-quarter run -- one each to Davis, Jrue Holiday and assistant coach Dave Hanners -- the last two after a foul call on Holiday. Gordon scored just two points in the third quarter. Ajinca converted both of his field goals in the period, but the rest of the Pelicans missed 12 of 14 attempts. "We just didnt play that well," Pelicans coach Monty Williams said. "Basically, they took it to us on the defensive end, and I thought offensively Stephenson was the catalyst for them. "We just got out of sync on the offensive end, and that led to them getting a number of offensive opportunities. They just picked up, and we did not." Indiana made 11 of 16 field goals (68.8) in the decisive quarter. "They came out and played a great first quarter, and we buckled down the rest of the way," said Pacers coach Frank Vogel. "We wanted to mix up the matchup on Gordon, give him a different look. "We adjusted our offensive package a little bit to get more efficiency. What we showed in the third quarter is who we are: were a high-powered offence with some shot-makers." The Pelicans put together a 12-0 run over a 3:08 span in the first quarter to push a two-point lead to a 27-13 advantage 2:30 before the break. Davis hit a jumper and drove the baseline to pace the surge. Watson hit a 15-foot jumper, Luis Scola sank a jumper from the right side and Watson made a 19-footer as Indiana responded with a 6-0 burst in under a minute early in the second period to close to within eight points. Gordon scored his 17 first-half points on 7-of-11 shooting, including 3 of 4 from beyond the arc as the Pelicans led 49-44 at the half. NOTES: Earlier Saturday, the Pacers recalled rookie forward Solomon Hill from the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the NBA D-League. He averaged 19 points and 3.5 rebounds in two games there. . The Pacers comeback went against the Pelicans grain. Going into Saturdays game, New Orleans had been 9-1 when holding its opponent to fewer than 100 points and 11-5 when it had the halftime lead. . George has scored more than 20 points in 24 of the Pacers 32 games. ... The Bankers Life Fieldhouse crowd rose for a standing ovation when the score of the Colts 45-44 comeback win over Kansas City at nearby Lucas Oil Stadium was announced at the half. "Im really happy for Indy sports fans," Vogel said. "A clean sweep tonight." Michael Raffl Flyers Jersey. The importance of Saturdays home match against the Portland Timbers cannot be overstated. It may fall short of must-win, but not by much. Six games to go and a three-point gap stand in the way of Toronto FC and a playoff spot. They are on the outside looking in. The good news is they are within arms reach with plenty of promise in their hunt for points. The outlook is beginning to look much brighter for Toronto. The team is as healthy and fit as it has been all season. Continuity is building. Star striker Jermain Defoe is on the verge of returning. And difficult matches lay ahead for Torontos competitors for playoff spots. On top of it all, Toronto FC has a game in hand on the competition. Giving head Coach Greg Vanney his first managerial victory, a convincing 3-0 win over Chivas USA last Sunday was the first step. Using the performance as a springboard to bigger and better things is next on the agenda. Here are my Five Thoughts ahead of the massive Toronto FC-Portland Timbers match-up on Saturday (1pm ET). 1) Jackson leaves a hole a€“ It was arguably the Brazilians best match of the season before getting sent off against Chivas. He had scored a goal, was taking on opponents on the dribble at will, and using his physical presence to cause all kinds of problems in the back-line. It was a Man of the Match type performance until he lost composure after not getting a call late in the proceedings. Jackson recklessly dove at the legs of Nigel Reo-Coker: a leg-breaking type challenge Reo-Coker rightfully took exception to. Both players were sent off, Jackson suspended and now Vanney is left to fill the right midfield hole with another option. Its the kind of selfishness from a player that will drive a coach crazy. Moving forward without Jackson is no easy task. There is no ready-made replacement for the versatile Brazilian. Dominic Oduro seems the logical stand-in, but with so much firepower in Portlands team, Vanney may be better off turning to a more defensive minded option. If that is the case, Warren Creavalle is a fit. Defensive shape and structure is priority, especially considering the good run of form Gilberto and Luke Moore are having upfront. The move putting Jonathan Osorio in central-midfield (finally) makes for more fluidity in attack. So Id turn to Creavalle on the right side, leaving Oduro on the bench, having the option to bring on the speedster late in the match to change the tempo. 2) Gilberto warning a€“ Player interviews the day before matches typically dont reveal true talking points. That theory held true Friday until a somewhat awkward exchange with Gilberto when asked about the return of Defoe. Toronto FCs top scorer is targeting a return to game action next week in Los Angeles, likely sending one of Moore or Gilberto back to the bench. After giving a quizzical look to the question that was asked, Gilberto came to the defence of the current attack partnership. Our strikers have been playing well, Luke (Moore) has been playing well since Defoes been gone, for about four to six weeks, he said through an interpreter. So its kind of like Defoe has to win his spot back on the team because our strikers are playing really well now. Weve got other guys that are training really hard and fighting and Defoes got to start training hard now and working to get back into game shape. There is always worry some of what is said is lost in translation. But it was clear the Brazilian didnt take well to the question. Gilbertos words shouldnt be taken as being controversial, rather from a place of pride in a player who is intent on continuing his progress in MLS. Gilberto also spoke Friday of his growing confidence and comfort in the league. Five goals in his last nine games (should be six) speak to his growth. It is admirable Gilberto believes players must fight for their place in the team, no matter who they are. Look for both Toronto FC strikers to be further motivated Saturday to prove their worth, making Vanneys decision that much more difficult when Defoe is deemed fit. Unfortunately for Gilberto and Moore, one will surely sit in favour of the big money, big-time goal-scorer who has the ability to change a game like few in MLS. 3) Captain Caldwell a€“ Its no coincidence Toronto kept their first clean sheet in eight games with Steven Caldwell leading the line last weekend. Goalkeeper Joe Bendik acknowledged as much, speaking of superior communication and organization. Caldwell (quad) has played two games in Toronto FCs last 13. Toronto only won two games with Caldwell out. Its a cautionary tale for MLS teams: have requisite veteran experience across the back-line or pay the consequences. Toronto FC rolled with a 21-year old Doneil Henry and 22-year old rookie Nick Hagglund in his absence. Both players did what they could, but with all the changes at the back, including Justin Morrow out through injury, the task proved to be too much, too soon for the young defenders. The experienced presence of Caldwell was desperately missed. Tim Bezbatchenko tried to acquire a veteran defender to no avail before the MLS roster freeze. It can be argued Toronto FC would be in a preferable position in the table had Caldwell remained in the team or Toronto FC had requisite veteran depth at the all-important position. 4) Terrific Timbers a€“ Its been a busy and fruitful week for Portland. A 6-0 win in the CONCACAF Champions League Tuesday on the surface seems a distraction heading into the all-important trip to Toronto. In fairness, the match shouldnt be a decisive factor, with head coach Caleb Porter resting his regulars for the game. Still, the teams midweek commitment and cross-continent travel is never easy, especially for a 1pm ET kick-off for a west-coast team. That being said, the Timbers are a strong side, coming off a thorough 3-0 dismantling of the Vancouver Whitecaps last weekend, leapfrogging their Cascadia rival in the standings. Portland now has a two-point cushion over Vancouver for the fifth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Sitting nine points back of FC Dallas for fourth place and eight points up on seventh place Colorado, its basically a battle between Portland and Vancouver for the final playoff spot. Needless to say, Saturday is huge for the visitors. The player to watch is Diego Valeri, the leading candidate for MLS MVP. He has been that good. The 2013 MLS Newcomer of the Year won MLS Goal of the Week for his picture perfect volley against Vancouver, adding to his impressive nine goals and 14 assists (2nd in MLS) on the season. The 28-year old Argentine may be the best of the bunch on the team, but Portland has a squad full of top MLS talent. Nigerian newcomer Fanendo Adi and former Toronto FC striker Maximillano Urruti have combined for 17 goals. Canadian International Will Johnson is team captain, providing added quality and work-rate in the middle of the park. Portlands true weakness is at the back, conceding 48 goals on the season, the worst rate among teams in playoff spots. 5) Getting to BMO Field a€“ WARNING: Leave early if youre heading down for the match. The Gardiner Expressway is closed all weekend from the 427 to Carlaw. It will be gridlock at its worst and a traffic nightmare. Go Train or other transit is preferable. Head to Liberty Village early and grab a bite and a beverage. Its worth avoiding the headache and the team needs support with bodies in the crowd from the opening whistle. Parking will be a nightmare as well, with Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer to benefit Princess Margaret Hospital is going on all day at Ontario Place. Toronto FC is acting accordingly, staying in a downtown hotel tonight rather than their own beds. You can listen to Toronto FC v. Portland Timbers on TSN 1050 Radio (pre-match at 1230pm) and watch on TSN1, TSN4 and TSN5. @WheelerTSN gareth.wheeler@bellmedia.ca JuJu Smith-Schuster Jersey. -- D.A. Points was disqualified Friday from the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am for using a training device while waiting to play the 18th hole at Pebble Beach. James Conner Youth Jersey.C. -- Tony Stewart will not race Saturday night at Bristol Motor Speedway, the third Sprint Cup race hes skipped since his car struck and killed Kevin Ward Jr. http://www.shoptheofficialsteelers.us/steelers-james-conner-super-bowl-jersey-authentic/.35 million, avoiding arbitration. Considering the ice already seemed titled in the Sharks favour given the way they had stormed the Canucks net from the opening face-off, it seemed like the Hansen penalty would likely be the break San Jose needed to tie the game. That, however, wasn’t the case. As it has been through the first 14 games of the season, the Canucks penalty kill once again went about its business. Rising to the challenge in a pivotal moment, the Canucks managed to successfully run off the two minutes of short-handed time and the frantic five minutes that followed, and somehow escaped the Shark Tank with a one-goal victory. Despite giving up a power play goal to Logan Couture in the second period, the Canucks finished the night three for four on the penalty kill, pushing their recent run of success to 20 of the last 22 times they’ve been shorthanded. Overall, they sit sixth in the National Hockey League killing penalties with an efficiency rate of 87.3%. That’s up four percent from their final position a year ago when they started strongly on the penalty kill then, as with so many other facets of their game, faded badly in the second half of the season. The Canucks have needed to be strong on the penalty kill in the early going this season as only three teams in the league have been short-handed more than the 55 times they’ve been sent to the penalty box. Goaltending plays a huge role in any successful penalty kill and Ryan Miller has been spectacular in that regard. Including Thursday night, he has been beaten only four times while shorthanded. Chris Tanev (3:12) and Alex Edler (3:07) lead the way as the only Canucks skaters to average over three minutes of short-handed time per game, with Dan Hamhuis (2:39), Brad Richardson (2:29), Chris Higgins (2:10), Kevin Bieksa (2:05) and Nick Bonino (2:02) all over the two-minute mark.dddddddddddd “It’s kind of a mindset,” Richardson said of successfully killing penalties. “I do a lot of it and it’s something I do take a lot of pride in. The specialty teams are a huge part of the game and we’ve taken a look at the stats and the more times we win the special teams battles we win the games. Definitely it’s a huge part of our success and every time you get out there you’re trying to focus on keeping the puck out of your net.’ In crunch time on Thursday night, the Canucks were able to make that happen to preserve their 10th victory of the young season. The challenge – and it will be a big one -- will be to keep the penalty kill sharp the remainder of the season. But right now, given the learning curve the Canucks are dealing with trying to implement new head coach Willie Desjardins’s systems in all areas of the ice, it appears the penalty killers are catching on quickly. “To me, there’s maybe a tiny bit of structure change but most of penalty killing is attitude and wanting to outwork the power play,” Richardson said about the changes Desjardins has made while playing a man or two short. “There might be some subtleties on how you fore-check or how you line up when they come at you, but I think most of it comes down to hard work.” Without question, the Canucks penalty killers are putting in the effort and that hard work has been rewarded. One look at Vancouvers lofty perch in the overall standings a month into the new season is proof of that. Wholesale Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Authentic Jerseys From China Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys ' ' '

VANCOUVER -- Roberto Luongos return to the Canucks net was a less than memorable one on Wednesday night as he allowed four goals in the first 12:24 in a 4-1 loss to the Edmonton Oilers. Luongo finished with 14 saves on 18 shots in two periods of work. He was replaced by Joacim Eriksson, who is vying for Vancouvers backup job with fellow Swede Eddie Lack. Eriksson was credited with nine saves. Jordan Eberle had a goal and two assists for the Oilers. Eberle produced his points in the first 7:38 of the game as all of the scoring was completed in the opening period. Martin Marincin, David Perron and Jesse Joensuu also scored for the Oilers. Edmonton goaltender Devan Dubnyk stopped 25 of 26 shots as he played the whole game. Brendan Gaunce, with his second goal in two pre-season games, scored for the Canucks. The Canucks went with several core players among the 10 NHL veterans they dressed, including Daniel and Henrik Sedin and defenceman Kevin Bieksa. Edmontons lineup contained 12 NHL regulars, with Taylor Hall, Nick Schultz and Ryan Smyth among them. Eberle opened the scoring 4:49 into the game as he slid a wraparound in off of Luongo. Then he made the first passes as Marincini and Perron scored on similar long shots 31 seconds apart to put the Oilers up 3-0 before the game was eight minutes old. Joensuu scored Edmontons final goal of the first period on a rebound after Luongo stretched across his crease to make a sensational save on Mark Arcobellos one-timer. Gaunce put the Canucks on the scoreboard just 42 seconds later as he shovelled the puck past Dubnyk, who made his second pre-season appearance. But neither team could score in an uneventful second period and a similarly quiet third. Luongo finished with 14 saves on 18 shots in two periods of work. Niall Quinn gives his verdict on the hits and misses from the 2016 summer signings. I dont know how many times Jools Holland has ushered in the new year with his Hootenanny, but I know a little of how he feels. Transfer Deadline Day in the Sky Sports studio has the same elements. A months hype, the countdown, the drama, then the fireworks. Except we cant pre-record the entire thing.Like New Years Eve, there is plenty of time for disappointment and regret once the clock signals the windows end. I imagine managers texting each other in the cold light of the next morning. I really love him. But Arsene, you loved Andrey Arshavin too. In the studio we get to sit and judge, like drill sergeants watching a new batch of pimply recruits arrive into the barracks. Unless you get a strange story like Peter Odemwingies day trip to London or Anthony Martial signing on to be part of Uniteds Great Futures Behind Them collection, there is a lot of time for speculating about who will sleep with the fishes and who will swim with the dolphins? As we get to the last international break of the year I see the papers and the internet are boiling again with rumours of the frenzy to come in the approaching window, so it seems like a good time to look at a few of the hits and misses from the latest summer session. One of the best stories of the back end of summer was Moussa Sissoko. Everton thought he was ready to sign a pre-nup and tie the knot. Then he was worryingly uncontactable. Everton were about to call in Liam Neeson to track him down when Sissoko turned up in London wearing a Spurs jersey. Watch highlights of Spurs draw with Arsenal The fee of £30m was about double what Spurs generally like to pay for incoming players. His form so far has probably been about half what they expect from those players. Sissokos handful of appearances so far have not produced any goals or assists.Generally though, Sissokos disappointing start goes under the radar because the best story of the summer was Paul Pogbas return to Old Trafford. It was the sort of deal which would have Sir Alex Ferguson spinning in his VIP box and screaming to be let out.The idea to write about the form of the big summer transfers came before Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic spent Sunday afternoon pawing the dead mouse that is Swansea. But even taking into account that the win was Uniteds best performance outside of England this year, the jury must still be out on Pogba and Zlatan.United look like a troubled club and at the moment the guys picking up the heaviest wage packets every month have not been performing on match days. Maybe at 35 Zlatan should have looked for a gentler pasture in which he could transition into retirement. He has been playing professional football in top divisions since 1999. Thats a lot of mileage. Niall Quinn on Ibrahimovic There are various reasons. Maybe at 35 Zlatan should have looked for a gentler pasture in which he could transition into retirement. He has been playing professional football in top divisions since 1999. Thats a lot of mileage. He still works hard. However, fewer things come off for him.He scored 113 goals in 122 games in France. His patchy form at United compared to Mario Balotellis exciting form at Nice these days tells us a lot about the difference between playing in France and playing in England.Pogba, meanwhile, thrived in a different midfield set up in a different league that is played at a different pace. Great goal yesterday, but his season can go one of two ways from here. Jose may get his midfield right (Michael Carrick yesterday was a good sign) and Pogba might start to look like a Rolls Royce. Or he may struggle at this turbulent club and with that price tag he may become a human shield for his manager. Watch Paul Pogbas brilliant goal against Swansea As for Henrikh Mkhitaryan? You just never know whats around the corner do you Henrikh? The best transfers have been the ones which didnt attract screaming headlines. On transfer deadline night I did some weeping and gnashing of teeth when Sunderland failed to sign a new striker. They picked up Victor Anichebe on a free soon after and I thought that even with my aches and pains Id back myself to beat him in 40-yard sprint. I also thought that neither of us should attempt any distance longer than that without emergency medical services present. But wait. I saw Anichebe play for Sunderland at Bournemouth on Saturday and I ate some humble pie at half-time. David Moyes surprised Eddie Howe (and maybe surprised himself) by putting out an attacking team with Anichebe, in his first start, playing up front to take some pressure off Jermain Defoe. It worked. And Anichebe worked. He scored one and got fouled for the penalty, which gave Defoe his mandatory place on the score sheet. Victor Anichebe was the match-winner for Sunderland at Bournemouth Nobody is saying that Sunderland will be fending off Pogba style offers to keep Anichebe next summer, but he gave Sunderland some presence on Saturday, he gave them a goal, a win and a boost to morale with the promise that playing some attacking football might be a worthwhile exercise after all.ddddddddddddhelsea picking off NGolo Kante from the Leicester herd when they were down at the watering hole in the summer was just the law of the jungle. The deal was a quiet, efficient piece of business which has hurt Leicester badly and helped Chelsea no end. Kante and Nemanja Matic in central midfield are the motor which makes Chelsea rival Liverpool as the most improved team of the year so far.Since Antonio Conte found a formula he likes and is familiar with, Chelsea have won five games on the trot. The players around Kante are all suddenly looking as if they have been reconditioned. Thats the sign of a good midfielder, a good signing. Special mentions too for Marcos Alonso and David Luiz who have settled in really well. NGolo Kante (left) and Nemanja Matic have impressed for Chelsea None of the players Leicester bought as they broke their old transfer record a few times over in the summer have come close to making up for the loss of Kante. There have been other good signings about the league. With the amount of football he has in him John Stones could be the next Bobby Moore for England. Its surprising that Manchester City didnt experience more competition for his signature. I would have thought that his style would suit most of the top continental sides. Their loss is Peps gain. Watch NOW TV Watch Sky Sports for just £6.99. No contract. In a week when City beat Barcelona it is easy to forget that Guardiolas project is still a work in progress. I think weve have seen contrasting returns on investment so far from Citys two big German signings in the summer; Leroy Sane and Ilkay Gundogan.Sane came back from the Euros a little late and has struggled with fitness, which is natural enough for a 20-year-old hitting the Premier League. In flashes he has shown that over the course of what is going to be a long season for City he could emerge to look like decent business, but we havent seen nearly enough yet. John Stones joined City from Everton Gundogans performance and two goals against Barcelona marked the occasion of him dropping his calling card at the Etihad. Apart from a knack of getting goals, among other virtues he looks like the cure to the brittleness which has troubled City for a while. When Transfer Deadline Day passed without Jurgen Klopp buying a shiny new striker I wondered if he had feet of clay after all. With 30 goals from 11 Premier League games and a top of the table seat this morning, Klopp has won that argument. His high-energy game is high attrition too, in terms of injuries and fatigue, so I still think he might splurge for a top forward in January. In the meanwhile, if Sadio Mane can escape the inconsistency he suffered from at Southampton he could prove to be the most inspired buy of the season.Elsewhere, what weve seen of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg at Southampton confirms their shrewd eye. Hats off to Arsene who has bought very well other than mortgaging the house for a 20-goal-a-season striker as we all instructed him to. Pity Lucas Perez hasnt got in on the act yet. Sadio Mane scored twice as Liverpool thrashed Watford at the weekend Joe Allen was a neat bit of business for Stoke, he deserves a snappier nickname than the Midlands Andrea Pirlo. Victor Wanyama has been a typical bit of efficient Spurs business. Yannick Bolasie has looked decent at Everton though hell hope to have better days than he did on Saturday. If not he will need counselling.Mid-term report for the recruits of summer 2016? Some successes, some shrewd buys, a long list of flops, misfits and ones for the future. You look down the list of who bought who and how their teams are doing and even if you take away the hype surrounding Premier League managers now, generally the best ones have spent cleverly. The Manchester United managers performance in his first window is the exception to that rule and following his January dealings alone should be great fun. OAKLAND, Calif. -- The beginning of Julys first blockbuster trade occurred about a month ago, when Oakland Athletics general manager Billy Beane called Chicago Cubs executive Theo Epstein to ask about Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel. Beane told Epstein he liked the starting pitchers, and he was going to be aggressive in an attempt to improve the AL West leaders. Fast forward to this weekend, when Beane proved just how serious he was during that initial call. Oakland and Chicago announced the big trade on Saturday, with Samardzija and Hammel heading to the West Coast for a package of prospects that included the As first-round selections in each of the past two drafts. "The deal speaks for itself. To pick up two guys like that in early June is pretty fantastic," As manager Bob Melvin said. "We wanted more options and saw the urgency to get it done. This makes us better." The Athletics began the day with the best record in baseball, but Beane felt he needed to add depth to a rotation that responded well to season-ending injuries for Jarrod Parker and A.J. Griffin. Drew Pomeranz also is on the disabled list with a broken right hand. Samardzija and Hammel join Scott Kazmir and Sonny Gray in one of the majors best group of starting pitchers. "We had to dig into our depth really early, and we felt like we needed two (starting pitchers)," Beane said. Samardzija will start for the As on Sunday. He was scheduled to pitch for the Cubs Saturday. In somewhat of a surprise, the As sent left-hander Tommy Milone to Triple-A Sacramento later Saturday to make room for Samardzija. Milone was 6-0 with a 2.62 ERA over his last 11 starts and 6-3 with a 3.55 ERA in 16 starts overall. "What do you say to a guy like that?" Melvin said. "Hes been terrific his last 10 starts and has meant a lot to us the last three years. I tried to figure out what to say to him. We havent seen the last of him." Oakland will make a move Sunday to clear space for Hammel, who will start Wednesday. Minor leaguers Addison Russell, Billy McKinney and Dan Straily went to Chicago in another painful deal for the lowly Cubs, who have played better of late, but are still last in the NL Central. Chicago also gets a player to be named in its latest July sell-off. The Cubs lost at least 91 games in each of the previous three years. They traded away starting pitchers Ryan Dempster and Paul Maholm in July 2012, and Matt Garza and Scott Feldman last July. "We certainly hope that this is the last year that were obvious sellers at the trade deadline," Epstein said. The key piece for Chicago in the deal with Oakland was Russell, a 20-year-old shortstop headed for Double-A Tennessee. A torn right hamstring sidelined the No. 11 overall selection in the 2012 draft earlier this season, but he was batting .333 in 13 games for Double-A Midland at the time of the trade. Chicago and Oakland talked about a Samardzija for Russell deal, but Epstein said the one-for-one framework didnt work. He spoke with Beane on Thursday night, and thats when the trade grew into the larger package. "We felt like Russell was a key for us in any deal with Oakland," Epstein said. The hard-throwing Samardzija had a 2-7 record for the Cubs, but he also had a 2.83 ERA and 103 strikeouts in 108 innings, making him one of the most coveted pitchers on the market. The former Notre Dame receiver was selected by Chicago in the fifth round in 2006. Chicago recalled left-hander Chris Rusin from Triple-A Iowa. Epstein said the Cubs were still discussing their options when it came to the rotation. "I can say that (after that) its going to stay the same until Tuesday for the doubleheader (at Cincinnati)," Cubs manager Rick Renteria said of the rotation after Saturday. Jake Arrieta is set to start Sunday in Washington and Edwin Jackson on Monday at Cincinnati. The Cubs will add a 26th man, Tsuyoshi Wada, for Tuesdays doubleheader. The Cubs talked to the 29-year-old Samardzija about a contract extension, but were unable to come to an agreement. He is set to become a free agent for the first time after the 2015 season. "Jeff has been a bit of workhorse," Beane said. "Hes got a perfect health record. Hes a guy that continues to develop. Hes gotten better and better each year he goes out." Hammel signed a $6 million, one-year contract with Chicago in February and went 8-5 with a 2.98 ERA and 104 strikeouts in 108 2-3 innings with the Cubs. He pitched six-plus innings in a 7-2 victory over Washington on Friday. Hammel, who turns 32 in September, also has three career post-season starts. "Hes gotten better and better and we think now is a great time to have him," Beane said. The 19-year-old McKinney, who was selected in the first round a year ago, hit .241 with 10 homers for Class A Stockton this season. He is headed for Chicagos Class A affiliate in Daytona, Florida, where he will share the outfield with another top prospect in Albert Almora. Straily finished 10-8 with a 3.96 ERA in 27 starts for the As last year. He was sent down to Triple-A Sacramento after struggling earlier this season, and Epstein said he likely would be up with the Cubs after a short stay at Triple-A Iowa. Even before the deal, Chicago had one of the richest minor league systems in baseball. The addition of Russell and McKinney just enhances the Cubs impressive group of prospects. "We think we have a real outstanding stable of good young position players that is a stable base to build off," Epstein said. "We like how this positions us." Michael Hutchinson Jets Jersey Authentic. Kelli Stack and Alex Carpenter also scored for the Americans, who avoided a repeat of Finlands upset at the Four Nations Cup in Lake Placid, N.Y., in November. Finnish goalie Noora Raty made 58 saves in that one, but the three-time Olympian could stop just 40 of 43 U. Mark Scheifele Jets Jersey Authentic. Manchester City are in talks with Everton to sign defender John Stones, Pep Guardiola has confirmed.

Manchester City are in talks with Everton to sign defender John Stones, Pep Guardiola has confirmed. Sky sources understand the Toffees are asking for £50m for the England international centre-back, but City are hoping to secure Stoness services for significantly less. Stones could become the most expensive defender in Premier League history Stones has flown out to Germany for Evertons two friendlies in Dresden against local side Dynamo and Real Betis. After his side beat Borussia Dormund on penalties in their second pre-season game in China, Guardiola, who previously confirmed City want to sign Leroy Sane from Schalke, said: Its the same answer as Sane. Manchester City are in talks to sign three players: Germanys Leroy Sane, Gabriel Jesus and Marlos Moreno He is a player for Everton. Everybody knows we want to buy him, but I dont know whats going to happen. But I can say Im so happy with the squad we have; the way that they train and the way they play. Chelsea were prepared to pay £30m for the centre-back 12 months ago, and Stones even put in a formal transfer request in an attempt to force the move through.Guardiola wants to implement more of a passing strategy at the club, and Stones - who is well known for his ability on the ball - could be brought in with such a tactic in mind.We need to create good build-up play, with easy passes in midfield, to achieve good passes for our strikers further up the pitch, said Guardiola.I believe when the ball goes from a central defender to a striker, the ball comes back as quickly as it goes, and we have to make it clear that we are building up in our first process, whether that is defenders or midfielders, and that is why we need players of quality, to play in that style, and we have the players to do that. And I think by August 31, we will have the right players to play the way we want. Guardiola says hes looking to sign the right kind of defenders who can contribute to his style of play It is also understood City are in talks to sign Sane, Gabriel Jesus and Marlos Moreno, and that while they retain an interest in Juventus centre-back Leonardo Bonucci, they would shelve any plans to sign him if they could acquire Stones.Meanwhile, City have arranged a pre-season friendly against Scottish Premiership side St Johnstone next Wednesday. The game, arranged to make up for the loss of Mondays Manchester derby in Beijing, will be played behind closed doors at Citys training ground. Bruins tough guy Shawn Thornton has decided to appeal his 15-game suspension for punching and injuri

Bruins tough guy Shawn Thornton has decided to appeal his 15-game suspension for punching and injuring unsuspecting Penguins defenceman Brooks Orpik. Thorntons agent, Anton Thun, confirmed in an email that his client was appealing. The NHL Players Association announced it had informed the league of that plan before the 48-hour deadline to do so passed. As laid out in the collective bargaining agreement, the appeal first goes to commissioner Gary Bettman. If Bettman upholds the suspension, Thornton and the NHLPA can then elect to appeal to a neutral arbitrator because it is for six or more games. Buffalo Sabres forward Patrick Kaleta is the only player to use this appeals process under the new CBA, and no player has gone to the neutral arbitrator. Bettman upheld Kaletas 10-game suspension for an illegal hit on Columbus Blue Jackets defenceman Jack Johnson, issuing a 17-page decision. Thornton got 15 games for slew-footing Orpik to the ice and landing gloved punches to his head during a game Dec. 7. The Pittsburgh defenceman was knocked unconscious and has not played since because of a concussion. Vice-president of player safety Brendan Shanahan said it was not a spontaneous action by Thornton because he tried to confront Orpik earlier after Orpik injured Bruins winger Loui Eriksson with a hit. Appearing on TSN Drive with Dave Naylor on TSN 1050, Thun said he could not talk about the case before it was presented in the appeal hearing but did mention he felt there was more than one reason for Thornton to appeal his suspension. "We believe there are a variety of reasons to appeal it and part of it is just clarity… The clarity is not just Shawn but for the other players in the league." Thun was also asked if he was aware of when the appeal hearing will take place with Bettman. "To be the best of my knowledge the meeting will be later this week, Thursday and Friday have been thrown around but at this point in time it hasnt been confirmed." Thornton had not been fined or suspended before. Several general managers and coaches around the NHL have spoken in support of Thorntons character in his career before this incident. The Oshawa, Ont., native apologized for his actions after the game. Chris Tierney Sharks Jersey. Street scored once and assisted on Corban Knights winner late in the third period as the Abbotsford Heat edged the visiting Charlotte Checkers 4-3 on Wednesday in American Hockey League action. Street put a shot on net from the slot and Knight was parked in front of goaltender Mike Murphy to slide the rebound in to break a 3-3 at 16:27 of the third. "Whenever Street has the puck in the offensive zone you know something good is going to happen," said Knight. "I just went to the netaand lucky for me, it was a wrapped present." Street scored for the second straight night since being reassigned by the Calgary Flames and now has 19 goals 37 points in 33 games with the Heat. "Streets such an important part of this team, both on the ice and in the dressing room," said Knight. "He brings a calming presence and veteran leadership a lot of guys look up to. We knew hed be at the top of his game." The line of Knight, Street and Brett Olson - who had three assists in the game - was praised by head coach Troy Ward following the game. "They were our best line the last two games, consistently in all three zones," said Ward. "We threw Ben to the left wing, which he really hasnt done all year here. Hes usually a centre. There was a glimpse a couple months ago when Knight kept finding Street on the power play and he was burying goals. We knew there was some chemistry." With 20 seconds left in the contest, Abbotsfords Olivier Roy made the biggest of his 32 saves after sliding across to rob Charlottes Chris Terry on a back-door play to preserve victory. "That save at the end of the game, the sprawl out, thats a reaction save," said Ward. "Those types of saves he made all night. Its tough to win two in a row against any team in this league, andd tonight Roy was a big part of that.dddddddddddd" Sven Baertschi and Markus Granlund also scored for Abbotsford (30-14-4), which won its fourth game in a row. Dan Biega scored his first two professional goals and Zach Boychuk had the other for Charlotte (22-22-1) while Murphy made 24 saves in defeat. The Heat opened the scoring when Baertschi buried his third goal of the season, taking a feed from Corey Locke and backhanding the puck over the outstretched glove of Murphy at 12:43 of the first period. The Checkers, however, tied the game a few minutes later. Charlotte broke out on a four-on-one rush and Biega finished a give-and-go with Brett Sutter, beating Roy five-hole. Granlund put the Heat back up by one just 1:21 into the second period, finish off a two-on-one with Olson while shorthanded. Granlund beat Murphy for his team-leading 21st of the season and fifth in as many games. The Checkers drew even again at 15:26 of the second. Boychuk skated in and wired a shot past Roy from the top of the circle, blocker side, for his team-leading 22nd of the year. Street put the Heat back up by one at 9:30 of the third. With the puck lost in a maze of skates at the right face-off dot, Street spun around and fired the puck past Murphy. Biega once again, though, knotted the game up for the visitors, driving out of the corner towards the net before sliding the puck under Roy at 11:11. Heat defenceman Tyler Wotherspoon thought he had the winner on his stick with less than six minutes to go when he got open in the slot, but Murphy kicked his left pad up into the air to deny him of the sure goal. "He had a good look, a good release," said Ward. "Thats an old-time save, a throwback, like Tommy Barrasso or Martin Brodeur, double stacking and throwing the pads up. It was a good save." Abbotsford will look to extend its four-game win streak Saturday when they host the Texas Stars. Wholesale Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Authentic Jerseys From China Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys ' ' '

HOUSTON -- After a tough June where Justin Upton has hit under .200, the Atlanta Braves hope the last two games are an indication that hell get back to where he was earlier this season. Upton homered for the second straight game and drove in three runs and Alex Wood pitched seven scoreless innings to help the Braves to a 4-0 win over the Houston Astros on Wednesday night. "When he gets hot like this its really, really something to watch," manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "Hopefully this is the beginning of one of those big runs that he can give us." Upton is hitting just .185 this month, but his average for the season is .272 after a great start to the year. "Im seeing the ball and hitting it, thats about it," Upton said. "Ive gotten some good pitches to hit and Ive put good swings on them." Shae Simmons and Juan Jaime finished the three-hitter as the Astros were shut out for the 10th time this season. The Braves had just two hits when Upton launched his 16th homer, a two-run shot into the bullpen in right-centre, to make it 3-0 in the seventh inning. Collin McHugh (4-6) had plunked Jason Heyward to set up things for Upton. Upton drove in Atlantas first run on a sacrifice fly in the second inning. He joked that Wood owed him a treat of some kind for providing most of the offence in the win. "Just maybe get an ice cream cone or something," Upton said with a laugh. "Theyve got some good ice cream in there, at least get a scoop of ice cream." Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman left in the eighth after being hit by a pitch on what appeared to be his right elbow. He was examined by a doctor and said he was fine and hoped the swelling wasnt too bad on Thursday so he could play. Wood (6-6) was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett to make his first start since May 4 after appearing in 11 games out of the bullpen in his last stint with the Braves. He allowed three hits and struck out four with one walk. "He did a nice job," Gonzalez said. "Mixed all his pitches ... his breaking ball, his fastball, threw some nice change ups." Gonzalez was encouraged by Woods performaance in filling in for Gavin Floyd, who had surgery this week after breaking a bone in his throwing elbow.dddddddddddd Simmons and Jaime struck out two apiece in a hitless inning apiece. McHugh struck out nine in his third straight loss. "He made a mistake to a really good hitter, and he didnt miss it," manager Bo Porter said of Uptons homer. "But outside of that one pitch, I feel like he was in complete control of the game the entire time." B.J. Upton doubled and took third on a balk before scoring on a groundout by Tommy La Stella to push Atlantas lead to 4-0 in the eighth. Evan Gattis doubled to start the second and scored on the one-out sacrifice fly by Justin Upton. McHugh walked a pair in the fourth inning, but the Braves didnt get another hit until Freeman singled with two outs in the sixth. Freeman was tagged out trying to stretch it into a double to end the inning. Dexter Fowler hit a leadoff double in the first, and was thrown out at third trying to advance on Jose Altuves grounder. Houston didnt get another runner until rookie Jon Singleton snapped an 0-for-17 skid with a ground-rule double to right-centre field with two outs in the fourth. The ball got lodged under the wall and Singleton was already heading toward home when he was called back to second base. Wood got right back on track after Singletons hit and set down the next five Astros before walking Fowler with one out in the sixth. George Springer singled with two outs to put runners at the corners, but Wood struck out Singleton to escape the jam. NOTES: Braves LHP Ryan Buchter was optioned to Gwinnett to make room for Wood on the roster. ... The Astros recalled OF L.J. Hoes from Triple-A Oklahoma City and optioned OF Robbie Grossman there before the game. ... LAS VEGAS -- It was the first question for Canadian Rory (Ares) MacDonald at the UFC 167 public work

LAS VEGAS -- It was the first question for Canadian Rory (Ares) MacDonald at the UFC 167 public workouts. If the third-ranked MacDonald and welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre win on the weekend, will the two training partners have to fight each other. "No," said MacDonald, before pausing. "Next question?" Rashad Evans and Chael Sonnen, however, will put friendship aside Saturday when they face off in the co-main event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. The two are no strangers to working in close quarters. When they are not fighting, they sit next to each other as TV analysts on UFC shows on Fox. After their fight, they will be reunited two weeks later to do coverage on a UFC weigh-in show. The 34-year-old Evans, a former light-heavyweight champion, is currently ranked the No. 4 contender in the 205-pound division ruled by Jon (Bones) Jones. The 36-year-old Sonnen, who has competed for the title at both 185 and 205 pounds, is ranked No. 6. Sonnen (29-13-1) is coming off an August win over former light-heavyweight champion Mauricio (Shogun) Rua. He had lost two straight title shots before that -- to Jones and then-middleweight champion Anderson Silva. Evans (23-3-1) beat Dan Henderson last time out in August. That followed losses to Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Jones. Sonnen-Evans may be a case of be careful of what you wish for. When Sonnen heard St-Pierre was headlining UFC 167, a marquee card that celebrates the UFCs 20-year anniversary, he asked to fight Wanderlei (The Axe Murderer) Silva in the co-main event. "Then I asked to be put in it with anybody but Rashad," he said. "But I ended up with Rashad, so I got half my wish." Sonnen and Evans were doing commentary work at a UFC show in Indianapolis in August when UFC president Dana White texted Sonnen to say he needed to talk to him about his next fight. "And I said as long as its at 205 and its not Rashad, Im in. And he wrote back It is Rashad. So I held the phone up to Rashad -- we were on a commercial break -- and just let him read it. And I didnt say anything. He read the whole thing." A few minutes later on the show, Sonnen had to turn to Evans to set him up for the next segment. "I could feel him sizing me up the whole rest of the show. And I felt myself doing the same thing to him." "Thats the way it goes," he added. "Its not the fight either of us wanted but were both leaders within the locker-room with the guys at the back. We cant set an example that you pick and choose your fights. You dont. Youve got to compete with everybody." Evans recalled the moment, noting the two had believed they wouldnt be pitted against each other. "Just because we have such good working chemistry (on TV) and I thought maybe they wouldnt do that just because it would bring a little bit of awkwardness. But we were both wrong." Evans says he usually sees his opponent and starts thinking "Oh, man Im going to punch him in his face." Not this time, although Evans believes that when the bell rings he will be able to "hit the switch and just make it a fight." White, who rarely sees a matchup he cant make, says Evans-Sonnen was simply the right fight at this time. The UFC boss, for the record, believes MacDonald will leave GSPs gym after this fight and start training on his own, setting the stage for an all-Canadian welterweight showdown. Both Sonnen and Evans have elite amateur wrestling credentials. Sonnen was a U.S. Olympic team alternate and NCAA all-American while Evans was a national junior college champion and NCAA all-American. Evans has landed 49 takedowns, the most in the UFC light-heavyweight division. Sonnen has 35, the most as a middleweight. Sonnen believes their wrestling skills might cancel each other out. "I anticipate that from a fans perspective, it will be a different fight than anyone has seen either of us have before," said Sonnen. "Well both have to go to some other hold ... This isnt a new spot but its a tough one. And Im going to have it figure it out on the fly," he added. Evans isnt buying it. "Lets be honest here. Chael Sonnen has one way of fighting and thats coming straight at you. It doesnt matter who you are, it doesnt matter what your game plan is. He has one game plan and thats to impose his will." Sonnen is like a blanket and looks to envelop his opponent from the get-go. And once he gets you down to the ground, he looks to punish and finish. Evans, meanwhile, combines speed and power, above a good wrestling base. Sonnen has got some intel from Henderson, his good friend and sometime training partner, on Evans. "He commented on how quick Rashad is and how difficult he is to hit, with his movement." Evans is also back on his game, after his UFC 145 title loss to Jones that saw a bitter break with his former camp at Jacksons MMA where Jones also trained. "Those guys were family for me for a long time before he (Jones) came into the picture. So it was kind of a sense of me losing a piece of my family and that hurt and that stung more than anything, than the fight itself." Evans formed his own camp, known as the Blackzilians, in Boca Raton, Fla., and says he has benefited from moving forward and ridding himself of past resentment. "No longer did I have those feelings of betrayal that I had before. I had a different understanding of the whole situation, which is the fact that sometimes in life people just have to go in different directions. And sometimes its good, and sometimes its hard to do. But at the same time, nevertheless we all have to go in (our) own direction at some point." Sonnen has also changed. At times in his career, especially when hyping up his two fights with then middleweight champion Anderson Silva, Sonnen has veered between carnival barker and pro wrestler in his on-camera persona as a fighter. But he has been a gentleman in recent times, both candid and cerebral. Asked about his first-round submission win over Rua, he was gracious in victory. "I dont think Shogun was ready to go that night. I think he was too much of a sportsman to make any excuses, unlike most guys. I think he let me have my moment. I dont think that was the real Shogun that I faced." And Sonnen played down any idea of good-natured trash-talking if he wins Saturday. "Im a pretty good winner, a pretty good loser," he said. "I understand its competition. Either way Ill shake his hand when its done and well walk away. But I wont bring it up ... bit of a low blow if I did." Same for Evans. "I wouldnt rub it in. I wouldnt overtly rub it in, I guess," he said, drawing laughs. "I wouldnt make a big deal out of it but every once in a while Id give him the look like You know what happened." Tommy Wingels Jersey. -- Houstons All-Star tandem of James Harden and Dwight Howard refused to let the Rockets give in to fatigue. Tommy Wingels Sharks Jersey. -- Shanshan Feng was alone in her opinion about the pin positions in the Kraft Nabisco Championship. http://www.hockeysharksshop.us/Logan-Couture-Jersey/. Vettel was 0.168 seconds faster than Red Bull teammate Mark Webber around the Suzuka circuit. Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg was two tenths of a second off Vettel. "The car balance is decent, but I think we can still improve," Vettel said. "Looking after the tires will be important here, especially during the race. The car works fine at the moment, but we need to make sure we set it up the right way." Vettel has won three of the past four races in Japan and can clinch his fourth successive world title in Sundays race. The title will be his if he wins and nearest rival Fernando Alonso finishes ninth or worse. Webber, who will leave F1 after the season, is hoping for better luck at Suzuka after his car burst into flames at the Korean GP last Sunday. "Weve done a lot of laps today and will now work on tomorrow," Webber said. "The track is a special one and in terms of difficulty, its rightt up there.dddddddddddd We have to be very accurate and if youre not, then you get penalized." Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen, who had a mid-session spin, was fourth fastest, followed by teammate Romain Grosjean. Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton, who was fastest in the morning session, was sixth ahead of Toro Rossos Daniel Ricciardo. Ferraris Felipe Massa was eighth while McLaren driver Jenson Button, who won the Japanese GP in 2011, was ninth. There were numerous incidents in the afternoon practice. Alonso lost control of his Ferrari at the Degner curve and finished 10th. McLaren driver Sergio Perez spun off the track and slammed into a tire wall sideways but could be heard over the team radio saying he was fine, and finished 16th. Williams driver Pastor Maldonado also hit the tires just 12 minutes into the session. Jules Bianchi sat out the afternoon practice after running off the track early in the first practice and colliding head-on into a tire wall. The Marussia driver was unhurt but was unable to take part in the afternoon session as his chassis was not repaired in sufficient time. Wholesale Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Authentic Jerseys From China Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys ' ' '

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico -- Chesson Hadley dreamed about a day like this as a child -- other than the tossing and turning in bed and queasy stomach. "I was so nervous," Hadley said Sunday after winning the Puerto Rico Open for his first PGA Tour victory. "I did not eat well last night. I did not eat well this morning." He held off Danny Lee by two strokes in wind gusting to 25 mph at Trump International. "I wasnt vomiting or anything, but there were a couple of times where I felt nauseous out on the course," Hadley said. "I went to bed. I watched maybe three minutes of the Duke-Carolina game. I fell right asleep and I woke up ready to go about 5:30, 6, and I never really went back to sleep, just kind of tossed and turned. " Making his 13th PGA Tour start, the 26-year-old Hadley birdied the final two holes for a 5-under 67. Hes the first rookie winner since Jordan Spieth in July in the John Deere Classic. "Its incredible. Its a dream come true," Hadley said. "This is what you dream of as a 6-year-old out in the bunker, hitting bunker shots on the range. "It hasnt sunk in yet. Itll be nice to sleep on it and wake up in the morning knowing Im a PGA Tour champion and nobody can ever take that away from me." Hadley finished at 21-under 267 and earned $630,000, a two-year tour exemption and spots in The Players Championship, PGA Championship and Tournament of Champions. He will move into the mid-60s in the world ranking, giving him a chance to get into the Masters if he can crack the top 50 at the end of the Texas Open. "It opens up a lot of doors," Hadley said. "It guarantees me a major. Ive never played in a major before." He birdied three of the first five holes, chipping in on the par-5 fifth. "Its all about the start and I got off to a great start," Hadley said. "Probably the shot that won me the tournament was the chip in on 5. I mean I was dead over there and I hit the nastiest little nipper over there, and it snuck in the left door." Lee birdied three of the last four holes for a 68. The South Korean-born New Zealander won the 2008 U.S. Amateur and also has European and Web.com victories. "I really felt like I did my best. I gave it my best, but Chesson was just playing rock solid," Lee said. "He made a couple of good up-and-downs from bad tee shots. When he plays like that, its just really hard to catch. He just didnt make any silly mistakes at all." Hadley won twice last year on the Web.com Tour, taking the Rex Hospital Open in his hometown of Raleigh, N.C., and the season-ending Web.com Tour Championship. In Raleigh, the former Georgia Tech player began the final round five strokes behind Lee and closed with a 64 for a two-stroke victory. "The two wins last year, that helps a lot because youre there, youve learned how to win, you learn how not to choke, and theres a lot going on," Hadley said. Ben Martin shot a 66 to finish third at 17 under. "Im very happy with the way I played today," Martin said. "Just kind of get back out there, get the juices flowing a little bit. Really, the first time that Ive had that this year." David Toms was another stroke back along with Carl Pettersson, Jason Gore, Wes Roach and Richard H. Lee. Roach and Lee shot 67, Toms and Pettersson 69, and Gore 70. Matt Moulson Jersey. Luongo made 25 saves, while Dmitry Kulikov and Jesse Winchester each scored power-play goals to lead the Panthers over the Buffalo Sabres 2-0 on Friday night. Luongo, acquired in a trade with Vancouver on Tuesday, was in net for the first time for Florida since April 18, 2006. Luongo previously played for Florida from 2000-2006. "Kudos to all the guys in front of me tonight. It was really a team effort," Luongo said. "Shutouts are always nice, but at the end of the day its about the wins. We did a good job." Luongo received a warm reception from the fans, with chants of "Louuuuu" resonating from the stands after every save. "It was nice. It was a great reception right off the start of the game," Luongo said. It was the fourth shutout of the season for Luongo. His last was on Dec. 13, a 4-0 win for Vancouver over Edmonton in which he made 19 saves. It was the first regular-season shutout for the Panthers since a 2-0 win over Carolina on March 11, 2012 in which Jose Theodore had 34 saves. Michal Neuvirth stopped 42 shots in his first start for Buffalo since being acquired from Washington last Wednesday. It was a great performance by Neuvirth, seeing his first action since before the Olympic break. "This was my first time with a new team; for sure I was nervous," Neuvirth said. "Ive been practicing hard, but a game is a different story." The Panthers won for just the second time in seven games. The Sabres lost their second in six games. Florida went ahead 2-0 on its second power-play goal. Kulikov took a slap shot from above the right circle that beat Neuvirth on the stick side at 4:04 of the second period. Neuvirth never saw it coming as he was screened on the play. "I?just saw a bunch of bodies in front of the net," Kulikov said. "I was screaming for the puck because I was wide open." The Panthers scored two power-play goals for the thhird time this season.dddddddddddd The last time was Dec. 3 against Ottawa. The Panthers grabbed a 1-0 lead when Winchester took a pass from Scottie Upshall in the low slot and flipped it over Neuvirths glove midway in the first period. The goal came with just 5 seconds left in a power play that lasted 6:30, including a 5-on-3 for 25 seconds. The Panthers have been woeful on the power play, entering the game 30th in the league. That extended penalty was due to a delay of game on Matt DAgostini. About 30 seconds later, Buffalos Marcus Foligno drew a five-minute major and a game misconduct when he drove Brandon Pirri into the boards. Pirri left briefly, but returned later in the period. "I dont think it was worthy of getting kicked out of the game," Foligno said. "That put our team in a tough position and I think it was a tough call to make." The Sabres were outshot 30-13 through the first two periods, and 44-25 in the game. They may have been sluggish after playing their second game in as many nights, beating Tampa Bay 3-1 on Thursday. That victory was costly as the Sabres lost forwards Zemgus Girgensons and Chris Stewart with lower body injuries. "Back-to-back games this late in the season, its tough for anybody," Sabres coach Ted Nolan said. "For two nights in a row, it was really tough." It didnt get any better on Friday, as defenceman Alexander Sulzer suffered a lower body injury and will be out one to two weeks, according to Nolan. The Panthers were awarded a penalty shot in the second period when Drew Stafford tripped Sean Bergenheim skating in on Neuvirth. But Neuvirth easily stopped Bergenheims shot with his stick. NOTES: Buffalo recalled Luke Adam and Nicolas Deslauriers from AHL Rochester due to injuries. Both played in Fridays game, with Deslauriers making his NHL debut. ... Florida C Vincent Trocheck made his NHL debut after being called up from AHL San Antonio on Wednesday. ... Twitter: the place media and the public alike turns for news and public sentiment. Its a reflection

Twitter: the place media and the public alike turns for news and public sentiment. Its a reflection of what individuals, groups and brands deem important for those with interest. The respective Twitter accounts of the Tampa Buccaneers and Manchester United took different approaches Wednesday upon news of the passing of Malcolm Glazer, 85, owner of NFLs Bucs and patriarch of the Glazers takeover of United. A life celebrated by the Buccaneers, a life unacknowledged by United. @TBBuccaneers told a story of the loss of a beloved owner and friend, with condolences and heartfelt messages pouring in from across the NFL world. Pictures were shared of Glazer hoisting the Lombardi trophy among fitting tributes to a Super Bowl winner and highly regarded franchise owner. There was no mention of Glazers death on Manchester Uniteds Twitter account (@ManUtd). A brief, 75-word mention on Manutd.com was the depth of any tribute. No pictures of Premier League glory. No acknowledgement of what he and his family have done for the club. Silence, which speaks volumes. Instead of paying tribute to the life of Glazer, @ManUtd daily content featured a picture of Sri Lankas cricketers paying a visit to Old Trafford, and condolences of the passing of former player and 1958 FA Cup winner Stan Crowther. It was best for the club to ignore, rather than enrage. The worldwide reaction to Glazers death has brought back a groundswell of negative emotion. The story of the Glazers truly provides a cautionary tale; with ownership does not come entitlement. The Glazers remain controversial, disliked and untrustworthy even nine years after the familys leveraged takeover of Manchester United. Glazer Out and Love United, Hate Glazer remain the popular sentiments among the majority of Manchester Uniteds roughly 660 million supporters worldwide. Five Premier League titles and Champions League glory cannot wash away ill feelings. The issues are as much symbolic as they are fiscal and they run deep. Over £680 million has been spent paying down the debt on the club purchase of approximately £790 million in 2005. Malcolm didnt have the liquidity to purchase the team without incurring incredible debt. Manchester United was purchased on debt, taking the club from once financially secure and debt-free into a new era of massive debt payments and financial unknown. Current club debt sits at £351.7 million despite a growing number of brand partnerships and sponsors and unprecedented popularity. Debt remains a burden and central influence on club direction. Bankruptcy is not a realistic end game because Manchester United is far too lucrative. The brand itself thrives and continues to grow, with the Glazers squeezing as much revenue as possible from the logo. The brand is Teflon. Thats fine and part of business. Heres where its important to separate the brand from emotion. There is no personal relationship, nor overriding fandom as the driving force in the Glazers interest in United. There never has been. The Glazer ownership seems no more than a stale, unemotional business transaction. Buy, sell, grow, expand, its all about monetary growth. The very essence of the North American sporting culture, rendering a product thats popularity comes from a place of passion to becoming a series of business transactions and a moneymaker. Soulless. There is supposed to be something more substantial as motive towards ownership of a club like United than merely dollars and cents – a level of romanticism, a guardianship from a place of genuine affection. Malcolm never stepped foot in Old Trafford, a stroke in 2006 contributed to the detachment. Sons Avram and Joel are co-chairmen and are heavily involved in the operation of the club. Three of Malcolms other children owning stake have rarely, if ever been seen. Sadly, these individuals will play decisive roles in what happens at United next. Although Malcolm never had anything to do with the day-to-day operation, hell forever been synonymous with the controversial takeover of United. After failing in his attempt to purchase the Los Angeles Dodgers over a decade ago, Glazer turned his attention to Old Trafford. Glazer began buying up smaller portfolios of ownership, setting himself up to take advantage of the dispute between manager Sir Alex Ferguson with United shareholders JP McManus and John Magnier over the stud rights of racehorse Rock of Gibraltar. Glazer bought McManus/Magniers shares in 2005, taking control of almost 75 percent of club shares and allowing him to strong-arm the board and remaining shareholders on his way to complete control. Many hands were dirty putting Malcolm on the fast track to ownership, inside and outside of the club. The Premier League stood idle as Manchester United supporters made their disapproving voices heard. League overseers have remained absent in the fight. Those who the team is supposed to represent are true victims of this power play. Ondrej Palat Lightning Jersey. Grilli hasnt pitched since straining his left oblique in late April. Western and the second-ranked Laval Rouge et Or (7-0) once again received 20 and 10 first-place votes from the Football Reporters of Canada panel, respectively. Rounding out the Top 10 are the Calgary Dinos (7-0), Queens Gaels (7-1), Guelph Gryphons (7-1), Montreal Carabins (5-2), Bishops Gaiters (5-2), McMaster Marauders (5-3), Manitoba Bisons (4-3) and the Saskatchewan Huskies (4-3) Western crushed York 50-10 last Saturday in its league finale to secure first place in the OUA standings and a bye in the first round of the conference playoffs. CHICAGO -- Anthony Rizzo stayed at the plate for an extra second as his towering drive headed toward right field. The big first baseman just wanted to make sure it was fair before he got started on one enjoyable trip around the bases. Rizzo hit a two-run homer in the 13th inning and the Chicago Cubs beat the Miami Marlins 5-3 on Friday for their season-high fourth consecutive victory. "I think theyre playing with a lot of confidence right now and theyre continuing to pick each other up," Cubs manager Rick Renteria said. "I think theyre starting to feel and know they can do this. You dont want every game to be like this, but theyre doing it right. Well take it." The Cubs recovered after closer Hector Rondon blew a three-run lead in the ninth, earning their first four-game winning streak since last July 6-9. Rizzo also had a two-run double in the eighth and Jason Hammel pitched seven shutout innings. Junior Lake hit a leadoff single against Kevin Slowey (1-1) before Rizzo connected for his 12th homer. It was Rizzos second homer in two days and the Cubs first game-ending shot since he connected against St. Louis on July 29, 2012. "I hit it up in the air and the wind was blowing, so you never know," Rizzo said. "I knew I got enough of it. I was just hoping it would stay fair." Carlos Villanueva (2-5) pitched two perfect innings for the win. Chris Coghlan and Nate Schierholtz each had two hits. Garrett Jones had three hits for Miami, which had won four in a row. Nathan Eovaldi gave up three runs and six hits in 7 2-3 innings in his first career appearance against the Cubs. "I felt like I threw the ball well," Eovaldi said. "Was able to use both sides of the plate, slider was good, and I was able to throw my curveball a lot today for strikes." The Marlins had just two hits in extra innings. Their last nine hitters went down in order. "Other than the ninth inning, you know, mounting the rally, which was good to see, we put together some nice at-bats and gave ourselves a chance to play some extras," manager Mike Redmond said. "But then really in the extra innings, we didnt get anything going at all." Hammel allowed six hits, struck out eight and walked one, extending his scoreless streak to 14 innings ovver his last two outings.dddddddddddd. The right-hander, who could be an attractive trade target for a contender at next months deadline, is 2-1 with a 1.42 ERA over his last four starts. "I did my best to stay in my counts so I could be advantageous throwing the heater," he said. "I was kind of pitching backwards today. Slider early and fastball late." Hammel was in line for his seventh victory, which would have matched his total from last season, before the Marlins rallied in the ninth. Justin Bour had a run-scoring grounder before Reed Johnson, another pinch hitter, sliced a tying, two-run single into right-centre against one of his former teams. Bour was initially ruled safe on his grounder to first, but the call was overturned when a replay review showed Rondon got his foot on the bag in time. There was another overturned call in the 10th inning when Schierholtzs diving try for Casey McGehees sinking liner to right was initially ruled a successful catch. Eovaldi retired his first 14 batters before Schierholtz reached on a two-out single in the fifth for his 500th career hit. Coghlan followed with a liner to right for his third RBI in 24 games this season, scoring Schierholtz all the way from first for a 1-0 lead. While Eovaldi was shutting down the Cubs, Hammel had to work hard to keep the Marlins down. Miami got at least one hit in each of the first five innings, but Hammel was at his best when the Marlins had runners on base. "Im very confident in my stuff right now and having a good game plan," Hammel said. NOTES: Cubs C John Baker returned to the lineup after taking a foul ball off his throat during Wednesdays 5-4 victory over the Mets. Renteria said Bakers vocal cords are "inflamed" and the catcher is taking medication. "Theres nothing there that we can actually do to hurt it any more or any less," Renteria said. ... Blackhawks forwards Patrick Sharp, Bryan Bickell and Michal Handzus and defenceman Sheldon Brookbank took batting practice and threw in the outfield before the game. "The wind must be blowing in because I didnt get one out," Sharp said with a grin. "I think Bicksy hit one off the wall." ... Cubs RHP Jeff Samardzija (1-5, 2.54 ERA) faces 37-year-old Marlins LHP Randy Wolf (1-1, 3.38) on Saturday. Wholesale Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Authentic Jerseys From China Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys ' ' '

The North East side were outdone by a fabulous curling strike from Jose Holebas nine minutes into the second half, and were unable to get themselves a point. However, Boro boss Karanka thinks his team should have taken something from the game at the Riverside Stadium, but lost their intensity from the first period. No, I dont think we deserved to lose because I dont remember now the chances from them, especially in the first 30 or 35 minutes when we played really well, he told Sky Sports after the loss.
